Evolve Hunter Guide: Maggie Tips and Tricks

This guide will give you all the info needed to be a good trapper and Maggie player.

Every role in Evolve is important, but the Trapper has higher priority in Hunt. Without a Trapper, or a good one, the monster will escape and get to stage 3. Maggie makes finding the monster easy with her pet trapjaw, Daisy.

This makes Maggie a good Trapper for beginners, but you still need to how her skills work to be good with her. I’ll help you out in that department. For basic tips on playing Trapper, or anything else in Evolve, check out my Beginner Advice and General Tips/Tricks.

This guide will go over Maggie gameplay tips including:

  • Pet Trapjaw – What it does and tips on using it.
  • Harpoon Traps – What it does and tips on using it.
  • Machine Pistol – What it does and tips on using it.
  • Extra Tips – Tips for being a great Hank player.

Pet Trapjaw – Daisy To The Rescue

Daisy is a Trapjaw, one of the creatures in Evolve, and Maggie’s pet. She can follow the monster and revive hunters.

  • Stay close to Daisy when playing Maggie.
    • Daisy can smell and follow the monster no matter what, even if it sneaks. Maggie has to stay close to Daisy for this to happen.
    • If she isn’t tracking the monster, run around until she starts tracking again.
  • Have your team protect Daisy.
    • Daisy counts as a 5th hunter. She has health, can be downed/killed, and can revive.
    • Keeping Daisy alive lets you find the monster easier.
  • Daisy can stop you from losing.
    • If all hunters are dead, the game continues if Daisy is alive.
  • Pay Attention to Daisy and the icon above her head.
    • If she starts sniffing the ground, that means the monster is sneaking nearby.
    • A red icon means that the monster is in sight.
  • Follow Daisy, but use your own senses.
    • Daisy is great for a guide, but look around for signs of the monster on your own.
    • You might have to break away from Daisy to cut the monster off and trap it in the mobile arena.

Harpoon Traps – Put the Trap in Trapper

This places a trap on the ground that shoots a harpoon at the monster when it gets close. The harpoon stops the monster from moving until it breaks it.

  • Place harpoons in several locations.
    • If the monster is moving around a lot, placing multiple harpoons in different areas will stop it more easily.
  • Focus exclusively on harpoon traps when fighting the Kraken monster.
    • Krakens fly, but the harpoons bring it down.
    • Keeping the Kraken on the ground is your main priority and more important than doing damage as the Trapper.
  • Use them as traps or to herd the monster.
    • Placing them in strategic areas can catch the monster off guard and give your team extra time to kill it.
    • You can also lure the monster into specific areas by blocking a direction with harpoon traps.

Machine Pistol – Deal Damage When Needed

The Machine pistol is a fully automatic gun and the only way to deal damage as Maggie.

  • Damage the monster after it is trapped.
    • Once the monster is trapped in the portable arena and the harpoon traps are down, unload on it with the machine pistol.
  • Take out wildlife when not trying to trap the monster.
    • Buffs are important too, so help your team kill special wildlife creatures.
  • It has a wide spread, so aim carefully.

Extra Tips

The Mobile Arena skill is the most important part about being a Trapper and every character in the class has it.

  • Place harpoon traps as soon as the monster is stuck in the arena.
    • This helps keep the monster away from you if you’re waiting for other hunters to catch up.
    • It also helps your team escape if needed.
  • Constantly switch between each ability.
    • You should always have this rotation when trapping the monster in the arena: Place harpoon traps, keep your distance, shoot with the machine pistol.
    • As soon as one ability needs to reload, switch to the next one.
  • Try to stay ahead of the monster if it is spotted.
    • This is tricky, but allow your team to engage the monster while you get around it.
    • This lets you cut the monster off and trap it when it is trying to escape.
  • Survive at all costs.
    • When inside the mobile arena, you need to live more than anyone else. If you die, the arena goes down.
    • If the monster focuses you, just keep running and setting harpoon traps. Your survival is more important than doing damage.

I hope this guide helps you become a better Trapper and Maggie player. Go to my Beginner Advice and General Tips/Tricks for help with anything else in Evolve.
