Castlevania: Lords of Shadow-Mirror of Fate HD Announced

A PC version is also being considered.

Officially announced by Konami, Castlevania: Lords of Shadow – Mirror of Fate HD will release as a downloadable title for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 via Xbox Live and the PlayStation Network on October 31st of this year.

The non-HD version of the game was released this past March for the Nintendo 3DS. The game is a direct sequel to the reboot of the franchise, Castlevania: Lords of Shadow and bridges the story between Castlevania: Lords of Shadow and the yet to be released Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2.

The HD rerelease of Castlevania: Lords of Shadow – Mirror of Fate was revealed last week when Play Asia began carrying PS3 and Xbox 360 listings for the unannounced and unconfirmed Castlevania: Lords of Shadow Collection. The collection supposedly contains the original Lords of Shadow, its DLC, and Mirror of Fate HD. It’s assumed that Konami will release more information on the Collection next week at GamesCom.

The decision to release Mirror of Fate in HD was hinted at earlier this year when Konami UK’s Dave Cox mentioned that MercurySteam, the Lords of Shadow studio, had originally created the game in full HD. Cox stated,

“We created everything in high definition – all the textures, all the levels, high-poly models, everything – and we kind of shrunk it all down into the 3DS.”

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow – Mirror of Fate HD is coming out this Halloween for the PS3 and Xbox 360.

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 will be for the PS3, Xbox 360, and PC in November.
