Star Wars 1313 hasn’t been put in the sarlacc pit yet, should we be excited?

Star Wars 1313 isn't completely dead. Should we be excited? The answer is yes.
Star Wars 1313 isn't completely dead. Should we be excited? The answer is yes.

Star Wars is huge this year. With the new movie coming out in a week and Star Wars Battlefront now released it feels like our Star Wars news is done for the year. Well, we have more news. Star Wars 1313, you know the game that was thrown out once Disney corrupted- – I mean bought Lucasfilms. It would seem that they haven’t completely trashed as we thought. In fact thanks to SlashFilm we now know that they have been reading through the content of the game.

The head of Lucasfilms Kathleen Kennedy told SlashFilm:

“No. No, interestingly enough, that’s an area we’ve spent a lot of time, reading through the material that he developed is something we very much would like to explore. And there was 1313 the game, where there was….”

She also went on to say:

“Unbelievable. So our attitude is, we don’t want to throw any of that stuff away. It’s gold. And it’s something we’re spending a lot of time looking at, pouring through, discussing, and we may very well develop those things further. We definitely want to”

So yea there is hope for this game to return. From one Star Wars fan to another the new Lucasfilms is most likely doing a canon check. We all know they wiped the Expanded Universe from their minds to start a new adventure with us. Hopefully, Star Wars 1313 will live up to their expectations, and we can get this game back in the development room.

Should we be excited about this? Yes, we should let me tell you why. This could mean more projects we thought were dead might resurrect. Even maybe some live action TV series that were rumored to be in the works.

Both things whether a new game or TV series means more canon for the fans. Canon helps introduce new stories to us which means more games could come from those stories. Games that won’t contradict the Star Wars Universe we have come to know and love.

If this game doesn’t get a reboot, then it’s sad, but that doesn’t mean nothing could come from it. Like Flashfilms said in their article, this game could help with the Boba Fett film that was in the works.

A report from IGN back in 2013 talks about how the character in Star Wars 1313 was in fact Boba Fett. There isn’t really a lot of information on Boba Fett besides his father Jango Fett and how Boba saw his father die. This game was meant to follow Boba across Tatooine, Coruscant and other planets as he hunted down bounties. He would start without his armor and then would receive it later on. Sadly we didn’t receive this information until after the game was canceled.

Before the game was canceled we didn’t know a whole lot. We knew that the player would play a bounty hunter (at this time they wouldn’t say who) and that 1313 referred to which level of Coruscant you were on. They were really hush-hush about most details until the cancelation – – which only upset fans more after they heard about Boba Fett. However, the trailer for the game at E3 in 2012 is what pulled everyone’s interest.

Being able to be a bounty hunter in the Star Wars universe was exciting. We know what it’s like to be a Jedi or Sith. So the idea of being something different, especially a criminal, gave something fresh to the fans. Look at the Grand Theft Auto franchise, when choosing to be good or bad we always end up being bad then running from cops.

We will see what does or doesn’t come of it in the future. Meanwhile, we still have Star Wars Battlefront.
