Unlocking Templar

You unlock Templar in Chapter 4 by defeating Braev.

  • Follow the main quest through Eternia Central Command until you reach Braev.

Equipment Guide

Templars have an S aptitude for Armor and Swords.

Armor
  • You want as much Physical and Magic Defense as you can get because you need to stay alive to defend your allies.
Weapons
  • You want to use a Sword and Shield.

Ability List

Templars have the BP Limit UP Specialty.

  • BP Limit Up – Raises the BP limit to 4.
Level 1
  • Heart Strike – Physical attack that always crits, doing double the damage of a normal attack. Requires an extra BP to use.
Level 2
  • Abate Light – Support ability that reduces teh damage taken from Light elemental attacks.
Level 3
  • Physical Defense 20% Up – Support ability that raises Physical Defense by 20%.
Level 4
  • Giant Slayer – Physical attack that does 1.5 times the damage of a normal attack if the target has more HP than you.
Level 5
  • Magic Critical – Support ability that gives a 15% chance of getting a critical hit when using magic. This works for attack or recovery magic.
Level 6
  • Default Guard – Support ability that reduces the amount of damage received during Default by 75%.
Level 7
  • Rampart – Shields all allies to prevent 1 physical attack. Costs 2 extra BP to use.

Level 11
  • BP Limit Up – Support ability that lets you use the Templar Specialty on other Jobs.
Level 12

Level 13
  • Armor Lore – Support ability that raises aptitude for Armor to S.
Level 14
  • Heaven’s Gate – Does random Light elemental attacks based on the amount of BP you have.

Cross Job Tips

  • Pirates are great because they have Provoke, which lets you taunt enemies into attacking you. This will keep pressure off your allies.
  • Monks are very good for their HP boost support ability.
  • Knights are good for their Protect Ally and Full Cover abilities. These will protect your allies when they are near death.
  • Red Mages provide extra BP gains, which is useful since Templars have a strong ability that uses BP.
  • I recommend leveling Templar to 5 for any Magic user because the Magic Critical support ability is fantastic.

Special Moves

Sword
  • Level 1 – Brave 10 times.
    • Hack and Slash– Attacks one enemy, lowering their Physical Defense. Raises Hit Count for all allies.
  • Level 2 – Brave 20 times.
    • Air Splitter – Attacks all enemies. Raises Physical Attack for all allies.
  • Level 3 – Brave 30 times.
    • Sonic Wave – Attacks one enemy with Wind. Raises Physical Attack for all allies.

Combat Tips

Templars are tanks, but they can also do a decent amount of damage. The fact that they go beyond the max BP is also helpful.

  • Provoke is very helpful so I recommend Pirate as your sub job.
  • Use the Default Guard support ability, then Provoke the enemies. After, you can use Default to save up BP and take minimal damage at the same time.
