Heavensward gets a rocking new trailer

Catch a glimpse of the new raid coming in the Heavensward Expansion.

Final Fantasy XIV: Heavensward’s YouTube channel released a new trailer for the upcoming raid – Alexander. Set for release sometime later this week, this little video gives fans a little tidbit of what is to come in the new patch.

Looking at the trailer, we see adventurers running through maze-like corridors, dodging traps, and fighting monsters all to some jamming rock music.

Everything in this castle… dungeon… is purely mechanical. Including the Raids boss who we only see for a few seconds. It also looks like Square is incorporating some new means of travel in this new raid as well. The developers have stated that the raid are playable in both standard and savage modes, with the former having the difficulty of the Crystal Tower raids back in patch 2.1

It’s no FFVII snowboarding, but it still looks cool!

We also got a look at some of the new armor that players can get while completing the raid. As for how high the item level is on this armor, that is still up for debate. The current ilvl cap is about ilvl 190, but we won’t know until we play (or read the patch notes).

Pretty nice looking gear you have there!

Players can start raiding this Tuesday July 7th, 2015. Whether or not this patch will bring other updates (like bringing your companion into dungeons with you, and full Free Company airship instances) is still in the air. I’m sure Square will release more information when the patch goes live.

What do you think? Does the new raid look cool? Think there will be any new mechanics? What about the new duds? Let me know in the comments below!
