Origin accounts Renamed to “EA account”

Origin is officially changing their name to EA accounts, to promote and represent the EA services that they provide.

This comes as no surprise, but EA just announced that the account formally known as Origin will be renamed to the EA Account in the coming weeks.

Should Have Saw it Coming

Since Origin launched back in 2011, they’ve been a leader in selling EA games. They do sell games by other publishers, but they are “powered” by EA which is why it’s very understandable that a name change is in order.

Last year in 2014, Origin announced that they would no longer sell/ship boxed physical copies of their games, taking on the same mentality that Steam has had, where you own games on a personal account.

Complications along the way?

This name transition will be very smooth, and require no aid by those who have Origin, or EA accounts. In the upcoming weeks, the name change will take full effect, and your log-ins will remain unchanged. No reason to get worried over this transition.

Does this come as a surprise to anyone?
