E3 2013 – Word about Defiance

Syfy and Trion Worlds plan to bring new content to Defiance.

Some are fairly fluent about the world of Defiance, whether it be through the tv show or the game itself. Syfy Channel and Trion Worlds have teamed up to provide a “transmedia experience” with events that cross over between the tv show and the game. While it is an online game, it is not your traditional mmo. It’s falls more in the genre of an online shooter. Gamespot got a chance to speak to Nathan Richardsson, Executive Producer at Trion Worlds, at E3 2013 this week.

New Content Coming to Defiance

At launch, the only two of the known six races from the tv show Defiance that were playable were the Humans and the Irathients. From the interview with Richardsson, we have learned that they do intend to release the Castithan race in upcoming downloadable content (more commonly known as DLCs). Other than a new race, three more game modes will be released. These game modes include:

  • Dueling
  • Battle Arena
  • Sieges

Updates will be staggered due to differences of platform.  Defiance is available for 360, PC, and PS3.

Storyline Progression

Defiance has been renewed for a second season on Syfy and people might be curious how this effects the game and/or the show. Nathan Richardsson had that answer. Players as they play will be progressing the storyline for the show while its in between seasons.

Can I Get a Trial?

Currently there are not trials available for Defiance. Due to the multiple platforms Trion Worlds deals with, it has not been offered. From the interview, however, Richardsson says that they are discussing the various options to allow for a trial of the game. So be sure to keep an eye out!
