Grim Dawn devotion shrine locations guide Acts I and II

Need more devotion points for the perfect character build? We show you how to find all the hidden shrines scattered across Cairn!

Shrines to the gods are scattered all across the devastated land of Cairn, but they’ve been desecrated and ruined by the Chthonian cults and hordes of animated dead. If you take the time to reconsecrate them, the gods will smile upon you and offer new points to use along the constellation devotion tree.

These shrines are typically restored in one of two ways: either by sacrificing rare items like aether stones, or by summoning a wave of enemies that must be defeated.

Now where to put all those extra devotion points…?

Note that the list below assumes you are playing Grim Dawn on the normal difficulty setting. Some of these shrines are not available in the Elite or Ultimate difficulty settings, making those settings harder to defeat as you will have fewer devotion points to spend.

Before hunting down the shrines in the first and second acts, you may also want to take a gander at our complete class masteries guide to decide which dual class combination you want to try out in this dark action RPG!

Grim Dawn Act 1 Shrines

Shrine 1

Location: The Burial Cave in Burial Hill

This first shrine should be easy to spot, as its in an area with the first quest boss, Kyzogg The Reanimator. After killing Kyzogg in the Burial Hill, head up the bottom, center path on the map to find the shrine at a dead end. Repair the shrine with an aether crystal (in Elite mode, you need 3 aether crystals instead).

Shrine 1

Shrine 2

Location: Aquifier

After defeating Viloth The Corrupter (found by going underneath Devil’s Crossing to the Aquifer) this shrine is found on the far east side of the map and is repaired using an aether crystal.

Shrine 2

Shrine 3

Location: The Cavern in Foggy Bank

In the Foggy Bank area (while traveling north from Devil’s Crossing to Burrwitch), you will come across a cavern with two entrances. The shrine is near the northern entrance, and reconsecrating it requires defeating an easy wave of slith enemies.

Shrine 3

Shrine 4

Location: The Flooded Passage

Near the bridge that leads to Wightmire proper is an underground passage. The shrine is located at the north end by the exit and is reconsecrated by defeating a wave of aetherials.

             Shrine 4

Shrine 5

Location: The Burial Cave in Burrwitch Outskirts

After leaving the Flooded Passage and reaching Burrwitch Outskirts, this shrine is found inside the Burial Cave that has two entrances. To repair this shrine you need to spend two aether crystals.

Shrine 5

Shrine 6

Location: Burrwitch Estates

This is one of the few shrines not located in a separate area and is, instead, out in the open in the Burrwitch Estates area. The shrine is found in the northwest corner near the western-most point of interest on the map and is reconsecrated by killing a wave of aetherials.

           Shrine 6

Shrine 7

Location: The Underground Transit in Warden’s Lab

While traveling through Burrwitch Estates you will eventually enter the Warden’s Cellar, which leads further into the Underground Transit area. This area’s shrine is found just to the north of a breakable wall and is repaired with an aether crystal. In Elite mode you will instead need an aether shard and purified salt, while in Ultimate you instead need an aether shard and the calamity relic.

Shrine 7

Shrine 8

Location: Craig’s Crags in East Marsh

While this shrine is technically located in Act 1, you may not be able to access it until later, since you need dynamite and loads of iron coins to gain access to Craig’s Crags through East Marsh. Once there, this shrine is on the far eastern end and is repaired with a chipped claw. In Elite mode, it is instead repaired with tainted brain matter and a vitriolic gallstone, while Ultimate mode requires tainted brain matter and the mistborn talisman relic.

Shrine 8

Grim Dawn Act 2 Shrines

Shrine 9

Location: The Spined Cove in Arkovian Foothills

This area has two separate entrances that are accessed on the west side of the Arkovian Foothills. Once inside, the shrine is found in between the two entrances on the northern passage. To reconsecrate the shrine you will have to battle a wave of undead.

    Shrine 9

Shrine 10

Location: The Rocky Coast in Old Arkovia

After the Arkovian Foothills you will come across the Rocky Coast. The shrine is found along the main road and is repaired with a frozen heart, or instead with a vengeful wraith in Elite mode.

Shrine 10

Shrine 11

Location: Old Arkovia

This one is technically in Act 2 but you may not come across it on the first go around until later in the game. You can get here either by traveling through Twin Falls or through Cronely’s Lair, and the shrine is located in the center of the ruins. The shrine is consecrated by defeating a wave of undead.

Shrine 11

Shrine 12

Location: Location: Cronley’s Hideout

This area includes fragile walls you have to bash down to get through the tunnels. The shrine is in the coiling southwest corner and is repaired with a scavenged plating scrap. In Elite mode you will need two silk swatch scraps instead, while ultimate mode requires the gunslinger’s talisman.

              Shrine 12

Shrine 13

Location: Arkovian Undercity Level 3

The Undercity is accessed either through the Broken Hills or through Old Arkovia, and you have to make your way to the third Undercity map to find the shrine. You can find the shrine in the upper-center area of level 3 after fighting Kirlian The Tainted Soul. To repair the shrine you need chilled steel, or instead a coldstone serrated spike in Elite or a coldstone hallowed fang in Ultimate.

            Shrine 13

Shrine 14

Location: Steps Of Torment Level 3

This underground area is accessed through the Broken Hills, and you will again have to work through to the third map to find the shrine, which is found in the larger room at the far southwest end. This shrine is reconsecrated by fighting a wave of undead.

Shrine 14

Shrine 15

Location: The Barren Highlands

This shrine is found in the Barren Highlands right by the exit from the Broken Hills. Repairing this shrine takes a single broken emerald.

                       Shrine 15

That’s half the shrines found in the Grim Dawn campaign, but there’s still more lurking in the two next acts of the game. Stay tuned as we cover the other half of the secret devotion shrine locations soon!
