Nintendo has announced details regarding the upcoming DLC for Hyrule Warriors Legends for Nintendo 3DS and Hyrule Warriors for Wii U, including multiple new characters, a new adventure mode map, and new weapons.
Players who buy new copies of the 3DS title will be given download codes to transfer the new characters over to the Wii U version, along with a new trident weapon for Ganondorf. Those who order the season pass will also be able to instantly access a Ganondorf costume inspired by The Wind Waker.
Furthermore, all players will be entitled to a free character — Medli from The Wind Waker, launching alongside the “Master Wind Waker Pack” regardless of whether they’ve purchased any downloadable content previously.
Here’s a breakdown of the season pass options, and all the content inside of them.
Legends of Hyrule Season Pass
Available from March 24th, there will be two options players can choose from when selecting their season pass. This will give you access to all downloadable content packs for that chosen platform – keep in mind that certain packs are exclusive for certain platforms.
Nintendo 3DS Only Season Pass – this will give you access to four downloadable content packs, one of which is exclusive to Nintendo 3DS. This contains support for various Hyrule Warriors Legends exclusive features such as My Fairy Mode. ($14.99/£13.49)
Nintendo 3DS and Wii U Season Pass – if you own both copies of the game, this pass will give you access to all downloadable content. This includes the exclusive 3DS pack and three exclusive Wii U packs for their respective platforms. ($16.99/£15.29)
What if I don’t plan on owning the 3DS version?
Those who don’t plan on purchasing the 3DS edition of the game will be happy to learn there will also be two content packs specifically geared toward them also. These will both be available in Summer 2016.
Wii U Only Season Pass – You’ll gain access to three downloadable content packs. This will not include the Legends exclusive characters, only new characters the packs will provide. ($9.99/£8.99)
Legends Character Pack – coming to Wii U, this separate pack to the Legends of Hyrule pass will contain all Legends-exclusive characters –including Linkle, Skull Kid, Tetra, Toon Link, King Daphnes and Ganondorf’s trident weapon. (£10.79)

Downloadable Content Packs (Wii U)
Three packs will be available for Wii U, with a catch – if you haven’t downloaded the Legends characters through the DLC pack or the 3DS version, new weapons for characters you don’t own will become available only with the new weapon provided. For example, Linkle’s default crossbow weapon will not be available if you purchase the Link’s Awakening pack. Instead you’ll only get a version of the character with the newly downloaded weapon provided.
