Tokyo 42 proves underworlds can be pretty

Tokyo 42, developed by SMAC Games, published by Mode 7, is an open world, beautifully colorful, isometric, action game. Did I mention it's got pretty colors?

Did you ever think it was possible to make the criminal underworld look pretty? Neither did I, but the folks over at SMAC Games did. And they have made it happen with their game Tokyo 42.

Set in — get your surprised face ready– future Tokyo, you play as an assassin who is trying to uncover a plot that affects everyone, I’m assuming everyone in the game world, not the real world. Tokyo 42 is an isometric, action game that features both singleplayer and multiplayer. The form multiplayer takes is unknown, but here’s to hoping it’s Assassin’s Creed, or Watch Dogs style that makes you the AI.

I’ve always wanted to go to future

Tokyo 42 is inspired by classics such as Syndicate or GTA1. Judging from the trailer, I see more Syndicate than GTA. But when playing I’m sure GTA-esque dialogue and situations will arise.

So what type of assassin are you? You’re a sneaky, shapeshifting, explody, long shot, or close shooting assassin. Having a range of play styles is always nice, I’m just hoping it rewards you equally for all play styles.

Tokyo 42 is coming in 2017, and will be published by Mode 7 of Frozen Synapse and Frozen Cortex fame.
