The days pass quickly in Story of Seasons: Trio of Towns. One might be tempted to simply take it day by day, but doing so can quickly land you behind the curb if you find yourself neglecting some basic daily tasks.
That doesn’t mean you’re stuck with doing the same thing day in and day out; you’ll still have plenty of free time for what you need or want to do. Rather, it’s important to have a daily routine that you stick by so that you never find yourself missing out on a day chock full of entrepreneurial opportunity. Stick to the schedule detailed in this guide and you’ll be progressing faster than the seasons can spit you out.
The Daily Routine
It should be noted that not everything noted in the routine can be accessed from the start of the game. Don’t worry about it. Simply do what you can do and move on with the day. You’ll be checking off everything on this list soon enough.
This list is written in the order of which I complete each task. Some things I don’t do every day, but every other day (or once a week), and you can be sure they’re marked appropriately. If I don’t mention how often to perform any given task, do it daily.
Pet the Pet
My pet sleeps indoors with me for the convenience of having a bottomless food bowl. Every morning when I wake up, I pick them up and give them some attention before stepping outside to work on the daily chores. Better pet owners than me will even take them on a walk and play fetch with them.
Just make certain your pet knows you care about them. With enough love and affection, your pet could eventually be eligible to become your familiar.
Herd Livestock Outside Every Other Day
When the weather permits it, it’s a good idea to herd your livestock outside once in a while. Not only does a day outside reduce stress, but if you get them out before 7:00 or 8:00 a.m., then they’ll graze and you won’t have to feed them out of your own pocket.
Sending them outside two days in a row will stress your animals out; it’s wise to only do this every other day so long as the weather is nice.
Water and Fertilize the Crops
Watering the fields is one of the first things I can do if I can help it. I like to do this early because if you get it done early enough, you can water your fields twice in one day. If I have to harvest crops and plop them in the Seed Maker to replant them, I’ll water their empty fields while I’m waiting on the seeds.
After watering is done, I go around and fertilize all the crops on the farm. Normally, at this point, it’s still too early to pop into the store and buy some. I like to have the fertilizer already on hand, either always buying a day ahead or stocking up for about a week or so.
Harvest Byproducts and Tend to Livestock
Now that watering and fertilizing the fields have been taken care of, your animals require your attention. Head on over and give them some love. Make sure their pens are clean and brush them every day. Make sure you harvest their eggs, milk, or wool as well. Your livestock will love you for taking good care of them.
While you’re at it, feed them treats. With the animal shop’s special treats in your livestock’s belly, they’ll produce better quality byproduct, make more byproduct, and even grow larger in size. Treats may cost more than fertilizer, but your bank account will love you for it in the long run.
Stock Up on Farm Supplies
How often you have to stop by the market and pick up supplies depends entirely on how many days worth of supplies you buy at a time. If you’ve run out of fertilizer or treats, you should stop by and purchase at least the next day’s worth — if not more.
I usually buy about six or eight days of supplies anytime I stop by the market, but waiting so long between bulk purchases has also caused me to forget to restock after I ran out. Ultimately, it’s up to you how often you do this.
Hit Mining Points in Westown
Once you receive the Hammer, you can hit up the four mining points in Westown for your daily dose of precious ores. These ores are used as materials for things like upgrading your tools. When you first get your hammer you can only mine two of the points, but after upgrading it twice all four open up to you. Hitting all available points each day is integral for progressing at a steady rate in Story of Seasons: Trio of Towns.
Complete Every Part-Time Job
Now that your morning chores are through, pick up the part-time jobs and do all that you’re able. There’s no penalty aside from a light scolding should you find yourself unable to complete one, so don’t let that stop you from picking them up.
With as much investing any good farmer is doing, you’ll need the extra change to expand that much quicker. Once you’ve got the hang of things, part-time jobs don’t take up much time and doing all of them pays off fairly well. They even steadily increase your Town Link Rank, which systematically unlocks shiny new items in town shops. Part time jobs are your friend. Do them.
Lock Up Livestock for the Night
If you brought them outside in the morning, it’s time to return your animals to the barn when you come back in the afternoon. Leaving them out after dark will make them cranky, and you don’t want to wake up to find out you left them outside either.
Really, you could herd them back into the barn after they’re done grazing for the day so that you don’t forget to later. If you’re like me, however, and can’t be bothered to check when they finish grazing. Instead, just make sure putting them back is the first thing you do when you return from your daily errands.
Re-Water the Crops
Your crops dry back out after 10 hours. Re-watering them after they dry gives half the amount of hydration they got from their morning soak. Watering them twice in one day causes crops to grow slightly faster and turn out juicier. This is why I like to make watering crops my first priority in the morning.
Empty your Bag
In the beginning of Trio of Towns, you can get away with carrying everything around with you thanks to the relatively gracious starting Bag capacity. However, you’ll quickly run into the problem of space.
The best way to avoid the full inventory pop-up is to empty the unnecessaries from your bag every day when you return home. It sucks not being able to pick up part-time jobs or that rare piece of thyme because your inventory is full. Hit the storage box every day.
Check the Calendar
The last thing you should do before hitting the pillow at night is checking your calendar. It’s good to get into the practice of this so you always know what’s coming up. Competitions are important to plan for, and birthdays can be a great way to get some meaty friendship points with your favorite villagers.
Rinse and Repeat
Head to bed and repeat the process in the morning. It may seem like there’s a lot to do on this list, but I often find myself finishing up my daily chores between 14:00 and 17:00. You have plenty of time to run your own errands in between part-time jobs.
