How To Get The Most Out of Candy Crush Soda Saga

Candy Crush Soda Saga may essentially be the same game as the original, but it's not without its share of special gameplay elements. Get more with this guide!

Let’s face it — Candy Crush Saga is a force to be reckoned with. You can approach it several ways, but if you go in blind you’ll find yourself with an empty bank account and several reasons to quit playing. But don’t give up just yet. There’s a light at the end of the tunnel, and you can make it past the dozens upon dozens of levels your peers seem to breeze by with no difficulty at all.

You Aren’t Going To Win Them All

First, stop panicking about the progress you aren’t making and listen up. We’ve got faith in you! Second, know that you’re only one person and you’re probably not going to complete every single level of the game without resorting to help in the form of either a friend or some cash in your pocket. It’s almost inevitable. Once you accept that, it’ll be smooth sailing from here on out. You may well end up having to pay for a life or two, and that’s okay. The first step to becoming great at something is realizing you may have to make sacrifices at first. Accept the paid lives. Love the paid lives. And then know that you’re going to try and do everything you can to minimize doing that.

Power It Up

Remember: Using different power-ups is going to be a boon to your success. If you’ve played Candy Crush Saga before, you know all about the different kinds present in the game. Color bomb candies are your friend, as are striped candies, Swedish fish, and more. Maximize their use.

When you try a level over and over again because you’re searching for the right combination of special candies, you’re delaying the possibility of having to pay for an extra life, and that’s what we want. Match a color bomb with a color bomb for explosive results and clear out as much of the board as you can. See if you can arrange two striped candies both horizontally and vertically, and see how much you can accomplish by doing so. Combos may be hard to arrange, but eventually you’ll learn how to play to these advantages, and you’ll cut down the amount of plays you need to make in order to create and maintain your supply of these candies.

Go Fishing

Going fishing should become one of your biggest priorities as well. Creating fish candies, which you do by putting together a square of 4 or more regular pieces, will do you plenty of favors as the level number you’re on rises with each passing victory. Fish break candy inside of different squares, but you’re forced into difficult spots in order to actually make these matches. Think of them as “heat-seeking” missiles in short supply, and create more when you’re in dire straits. Deploy them only when necessary, or when you’ve only got a few different “special” candies to clear, and you’ll be golden.

Additionally, make sure you’re doing everything you can with Frozen Bears as well. You’ll find them trapped under several layers of ice, which you’ll need to get through. If you can see the bears glowing a teal color, you can find them much easier. Only seek these area out when trying to smash ice. If you don’t need to smash, just ignore that specific space. The same kind of strategy can be applied to issues you have when saving Bubble Bears.

Watch Out For Wayward Soda

Watch for the soda bottles and keep an eye on them. Don’t lose them by letting the bear rise too quickly. Ensure that you keep all bottles on the same level or on par with the Bubble Bear before letting it go any further up. If you can’t do this, you might as well kiss one of those extra lives goodbye.

The same strategy can also be applied in candy necklace levels. Striped candies are your best friend in these types of situations. When you match all the on-screen soda bottles, make vertical striped candies to clear out Bubble Bear rows for a quicker rise to the top. Make sure there’s plenty of room for the bear to float upward, however, or you’ll be wasting striped candies and extra turns of play.

Take these tips into account next time you fire up Candy Crush Soda Saga in order to play your best game. Before you know it, you’ll be racking up the points and clearing levels at a ridiculously expeditious rate. No thanks necessary — that’s just what we’re here to do. Go forth and fizz!
