E3-Everything We Know About the New Legend of Zelda For Wii U

We give you the skinny on what we know to date about the new Legend of Zelda for the Wii U.

Nintendo’s live streaming event just ended and one of the big games we got to see was the new Legend of Zelda for the Wii U.

Nintendo Producer Eiji Aonuma stated how the development team is “rethinking the conventions of Zelda.” He went on to describe how, in the original Zelda games, you got this sense of a wide open area as you moved up, down, left or right on the land map. As the series made the change to 3D, they lost that sense of openness. Through hardware constraints, the developers were forced to create separate zones instead of being able to deliver one, large land mass.

As the video footage of this newest Zelda shows, they have given the game its’ open world. Now the game seems to have an Elder Scrolls feel to it which, in my opinion, is something the series needed. Producer Aonuma goes on to state that by doing this they have changed the conventions of how you solve the games puzzles. No longer are you constrained to a set path, but can tackle objectives however you like. That is the first step in solving the puzzles now. How do I approach this situation?

Not much other definitive information was given, but considering what has been shown so far, I am VERY impressed. I have not been interested in a Zelda title since Ocarina of Time so this entry may very well be the one that gets me excited about Zelda again.

Stay tuned right here for any more information on the new Legend of Zelda coming for the Wii U!

I have been into videogames my whole life. Started out with an Atari 2600 playing Combat and Berzerk. Now I'm playing games like Titanfall and Plants vs Zombies on Xbox One and 360. I am a fan of cartoons and sci fi. Family Guy, American Dad, Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Star Trek, Star Wars and Battlestar Galactica are some of my favorites. I used to be into comics, more specifically X-Men but I haven't collected in years. My favorite games are the Mass Effect series, Elder Scrolls series, Doom and Descent. When I grow up I wanna be Wolverine ;)
