Leatherworker class quests certainly aren’t a requirement, but they do give some nifty rewards including the level 50 main hand tool Pinga.

The overall goal of this and the other tradecraft class quest guides is to give those of you leveling some idea of what to do ahead of time (and know what gear is to come), or for those of you (like me) who rush your tradecrafts and go back and do the class quests later.
There are three particular things to note here:
- Every quest sans your level 1 has a monetary optional reward instead of gear. These amounts are not listed.
- The required items for the quests between 1 and 15 can be purchased at either a guild supplier or tradecraft vendor. It’s up to you whether you want to craft or purchase the requested item.
- The optional rewards are the same among every tradecraft. For example, the level 10 Carpenter quest offers the same rewards as the level 10 Culinarian quest and so on. This does not apply to level 50 quests.
Level 1 – My First Head Knife
Requires: 1 Leather
Leather components: 1 Earth Shard, 1 Animal Skim
Reward: 150 Earth Shard, 100 Wind Shard, 10 Animal Skin, Hempen Kurta
Level 5 – A Test of Technique
Requires: 3 Leather Choker
Leather Choker components: 1 Wind Shard, 1 Earth Shard, 1 Leather, 1 Animal Sinew
Reward: 200 Earth Shard, 150 Wind Shard, Amateur’s Awl
Optional reward: Hempen Bandana, Hempen Chausses, Maple Pattens
Level 10 – Geva’s Gambit
Requires: 12 Hard Leather
Hard Leather components: 1 Earth Shard, 1 Animal Hide
Reward: 250 Earth Shard, 200 Wind Shard, Bronze Head Knife
Optional reward: Amateur’s Headgear, Amateur’s Kurta, Amateur’s Smithing Gloves
Level 15 – Working Hells for Leather
Requires: 1 Hard Leather Caligae, 1 Hard Leather Choker
Hard Leather Caligae components: 1 Wind Shard, 1 Earth Shard, 1 Bronze Rivets, 1 Hard Leather, 1 Beast Sinew
Reward: Recruit’s Awl
Optional reward: Hempen Doublet Vest of Crafting, Hard Leather Merchant’s Pouch, Ash Pattens
Level 20 – Aldgoat Everything
Requires: Goatskin Leggings (melded with 1 materia)
Goatskin Leggings components: 1 Wind Shard, 1 Earth Shard, 2 Aldgoat Leather, 1 Undyed Cotton Cloth
Reward: Initiate’s Head Knife
Optional reward: Initiate’s Headgear, Initiate’s Gloves, Cotton Breeches of Crafting
Level 25 – Skin in the Game
Requires: Skin Toad Leather (HQ)
Toad Leather components: 2 Earth Shard, 1 Gigantoad Skin, 1 Alumen
Reward: Initiate’s Awl
Optional reward: Silver Magnifiers, Initiate’s Gown, Velveteen Halfgloves
Level 30 – Toadskins of the Father
Requires: 1 Toadskin Jacket
Toadskin Jacket components: 3 Wind Shard, 3 Earth Shard, 1 Aldgoat Leather, 2 Toad Leather, 1 Diremite Sinew
Reward: Iron Head Knife
Optional reward: Velveteen Beret, Velveteen Gown, Velveteen Shortgloves
Level 35 – Lead by Example
Requires: 1 Boarskin Ringbands
Boarskin Ringbands components: 4 Wind Shard, 4 Earth Shard, 1 Steel Ingot, 1 Boar Leather
Reward: Steel Round Knife
Optional reward: Mythril Magnifiers, Apprentice’s Smock, Linen Halfgloves
Level 40 – Brand Loyalty
Requires: 1 Boarskin Smithy’s Gloves (HQ)
Boarskin Smithy’s Gloves: 4 Wind Shard, 5 Earth Shard, 1 Steel Ingot, 2 Boar Leather, 1 Hippogryph Sinew
Reward: Apprentice’s Awl
Optional reward: Linen Deerstalker, Linen Smock, Boarskin Smithy’s Gloves
Level 45 – Dissension in the Ranks
Requires: Fingerless Raptorskin Gloves (HQ), Raptorskin Targe (HQ), Raptorskin Choker (HQ)
Fingerless Raptorskin Gloves: 5 Wind Shard, 5 Earth Shard, 1 Cobalt Rivets, 1 Boar Leather, 3 Raptor Leather
Raptorskin Targe components: 5 Wind Shard, 5 Earth Shard, 1 Mythril Rivets, 1 Raptor Leather, 1 Oak Lumber, 1 Aldgoat Horn
Raptorskin Choker components: 5 Wind Shard, 5 Earth Shard, 1 Raptor Leather, 1 Raptor Sinew
Reward: Mythril Round Knife
Optional reward: Woolen Deerstalker, Woolen Smock, Raptorskin Smithy’s Gloves
Level 50 – Accept No Imitations
Requires: 1 Raptorskin Jerkin (HQ, melded with Gatherer’s Grasp III)
Raptorskin Jerkin components: 5 Wind Shard, 6 Earth Shard, 1 Electrum Ingot, 1 Boar Leather, 2 Raptor Leather, 1 Undyed Felt
Reward: Pinga
Optional reward: Leatherworker’s Hat, Leatherworker’s Gloves, Leatherworker’s Workboots
