In a recently released financials statement for the first fiscal quarter of 2015, Take-Two had Linux listed as a platform for the next installment in the Borderlands franchise.

This comes as a surprise considering a statement by Randy Pitchford, CEO of Borderlands developer Gearbox Software, in which he basically trumped any hopes of Linux ports for Borderlands and 2

IGN, the team that broke the story, asked 2K about the leak, who consequently confirmed that the game would be coming to Linux in the fall, alongside all other disclosed platforms.

What’s “Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel?”

Set between the first two games of the Borderlands series, The Pre-Sequel! promises to explain Handsome Jack’s rise to power by taking players to the one location in Borderlands 2 where everyone wanted to go: the moon.

Players will fight alongside the second game’s antagonist and assist in his domination of the Hyperion moon base, using jet-packs, butt-stomps, ice guns, and lasers.

The game releases on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Windows, Mac, and Linux (!) October 14th of this year. Preorder here to get exclusive goodies.
