EGX Rezzed Gets World's First Look at Alien: Isolation in March

The aliens invade the UK first. But can Sega turn the tables after the deplorable "Aliens: Colonial Marines"?

The universe's most deadly and recognisable lethal extraterrestrials will be making their first playable appearance anywhere in the world at EGX Rezzed expo in Birmingham, UK in March. The expo, specifically for PC and indie gaming, will give expo-goers an exclusive preview of Alien: Isolation before anyone and anywhere else.

“Gamer Network has firmly established their Expo & Rezzed shows as the UK’s biggest gaming convention, so we’re extremely excited to be participating with the first global public hands-on with Alien: Isolation at this year’s EGX Rezzed,” says European Marketing Director, Amanda Farr.

But there's much more at stake than just creating a buzz for the game, as it's the follow-up to one of the most damaging releases in gaming history.

Make or Break

How gamers will respond to the title at EGX Rezzed will mark whether Sega and Creative Assembly will be able to rescue the franchise after the woeful Aliens: Colonial Marines. The game itself was not only of incredibly poor quality, but was embroiled in a fiasco surrounding promotional shots that paraded itself as in-game footage when it was not.

The reception from both critics and players alike at EGX Rezzed will be setting the global expectations for the title. This means that Sega and Creative Assembly will really need to create an absolutely stunning demo if gamers are going to regain any faith in the franchise and reputations of the studios. What's more, Alien: Isolation will no doubt be compared against the already hugely succesful and well established space survival horror games, Dead Space.

"The reception from both critics and players alike at EGX Rezzed will be setting the global expectations for the title."

Sega aren't making it easy on themselves having already put out online trailers as adverts on YouTube (see above) to promote the game, despite it's "late 2014" release date. So until the Brits get their hands on Alien: Isolation in March, we can only hope that Sega have well and truly learnt their lesson and are on their way to creating a great game.
