Wil Wheaton Voices President Lincoln for Code Name S.T.E.A.M.

You won the pool if you had Wil Wheaton being the voice of Abe Lincoln in Code Name S.T.E.A.M.

Code Name S.T.E.A.M was announced at E3 last year, and the main theme of the game is steampunk. From what is available about the game, history will be a large component, and innovation isn’t dead! Where else can President Lincoln lead a team of historical figures in a fight against aliens? Science fiction will be well-represented in the game as well, as it was announced recently that Wil Wheaton, Big Bang Theory guest star and Star Trek star, will play the role of our 16th president, Abraham Lincoln. If Wil Wheaton ends slavery, I’m calling Michael J. Fox – because Back to the Future 4 just wrote itself. Anyway, back to the game.

I think the bigger news from this is that Code Name S.T.E.A.M. is going to have spoken dialogue, something that isn’t too common in Nintendo games. Nintendo games mostly get grunts or minor sentence dialogue spoken between characters, but this will be a welcome addition to a game that has had a lot of people talking. But a lot of people seem unhappy with Wil Wheaton being cast in Code Name S.T.E.A.M. because of his views on GamerGate. If the game is good, it shouldn’t matter who’s in it, but everyone is allowed to do whatever they want to. If that means that people will boycott the game just because of Wil Wheaton, then so be it.

Somewhere, Sheldon Cooper is smiling at everyone not buying Code Name S.T.E.A.M. because of Wil Wheaton.
