Pokemon GO Plus Launches in the UK This Week

Make catching ‘em all even easier with this handy device, available for pre-order now.

If you find yourself wanting to play more Pokémon GO, but just can’t seem to fit it into your busy schedule, this device may be for you. Designed to be worn on the wrist, the Pokémon GO Plus device allows you to play the popular mobile game without the need to keep looking at your smartphone.

Go about your usual daily activities with your phone kept firmly in your pocket, while the Pokémon GO Plus alerts you to nearby Pokémon and PokéStops.

The device is compatible with both iOS and Android, and connects to your smartphone via Bluetooth low energy. It uses a combination of vibrations and various coloured lights to alert the player to activity happening within the game.

When a Pokémon is nearby, the device will vibrate, and its LED light will flash green. At this point, the player can press the device’s button to throw a PokéBall. If the creature is caught successfully, the device will vibrate and flash once again.

When passing PokéStops, the device will vibrate once you are close enough to collect the items there, and its LED light will flash blue. Simply tap the button to collect all items from the PokéStop and continue on your way.

Pokémon GO Plus can also be used whilst Pokémon Go is running in the background on your phone, but it should be noted that whilst in this background mode, the device cannot track the distance you have walked, and therefore won’t contribute towards hatching any incubated eggs in your possession.

Nintendo’s Pokémon GO Plus device is available for pre-order now on the Nintendo Official UK Store for £34.99, and will be available across the UK from September 16th.

Stay-at-home geeky mama that's been gaming since early childhood! I wanted to be Lara Croft when I grew up, but writing about video games seemed a little more realistic ;) I love action/adventure and horror games especially, and have a fondness for scouting out indie developers to see what treasures they have to offer the gaming world.
