Hasta La Vista, Gamescom! Reef Entertainment Reveals “Terminators: The Video Game”

Cult 1980s sci-fi action movie is getting a video game makeover by British game designers, Reef Entertainment.

British game designer, Reef Entertainment, has already been showcasing the upcoming game Rambo: The Video Game at Gamescom this year. However, not content with digitizing just one cult 1980s action movie franchise, they have recently revealed that they have acquired the rights to films The Terminator and Terminator 2: Judgement Day, and are developing the first game to come off the back of these; the equally imaginatively titled, Terminators: The Video Game.

“We have started on our journey and are drawing on all the diverse materials available to produce a high quality, authentic, and exciting Terminator video game.”

Like with Rambo, it looks like they’re looking to capitalise on the nostalgia of older gamers who remember the original films. For those unfamiliar with these, they feature the former Governor of California, Arnold Schwarzenegger, as a time-travelling robot trying to save the earth from being destroyed in the future by an army of relentless self-aware robot assassins. If anything, why wouldn’t this make a good premise for a video game?

However, Reef Entertainment has not mentioned whether it’ll be a rail-shooter like its Rambo counterpart, or even what platform(s) it will be releasing on. And whether it’ll fare any better than the 2009 cinematic continuation of the franchise, featuring a very sweary Christian Bale, is still speculative. But with an aggregate score of only 33% on Rotten Tomatoes, it’ll be difficult for the game to do any worse.
