Take a look at the prices for Metal Gear Solid V's in-game currency!

“Mother Base” microtransactions for Metal Gear Solid V charge up to $80

Take a look at the prices for Metal Gear Solid V's in-game currency!

Today, Konami released prices of the their in game currency for Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain known as Mother Base coins. Although we were previously assured that microtransactions would be only a minor part of online multiplayer, these prices seem to say otherwise. These coins are necessary to expand your Foward Operating Bases (FOB).

The prices are as follows:

  • 6,000 coins for $79.95
  • 3,500 coins for $48.95
  • 1,150 coins $15.95
  • 550 coins for $7.95
  • 100 coins for $1.65

Konami has attempted to reassure us that multiplayer will not be “pay to win,” but that is hard to believe when looking at these prices. About two dollars only gets you a measly one hundred coins.

However, we must also take into consideration that we do not know exactly what kind of in-game items will be available for purchase, and we do not know how many coins each one will cost. The Phantom Pain releases worldwide today, and we are all waiting to see if Kojima’s departure has had a negative impact on the game.
