The trailer shows a variety of the brutal and gruesome deaths you can inflict on camp counselors as you make your way through Crystal Lake as Jason Voorhees. Some of these methods are pretty inventive, while others will be very familiar to fans of the horror franchise as classic Jason moves.

“We’re revitalising the golden era of slashers, and putting you at the controls of each horrific, blood-splattered moment.”

– Randy Greenback, Executive Director at Gun Media

Friday the 13th launched on KickStarter back in October 2015, and has since raised over a million dollars towards its development.

The game is an asymmetrical multi-player, in which one player can control the murderous Jason, while up to seven others can play as camp counselors – his intended victims.

As Jason, you stalk and pick off the counselors one by one, choosing how to kill them in a variety of classic slasher methods. The counselors, on the other hand, have only two real options – fight or flight. There are a multitude of ways to try and escape from Jason, and you can choose to run and hopefully evade his attacks, or attempt to take him out. Team work will be vital in order to survive the night.

Gun Media aim for their game to be “The ultimate Friday the 13th experience. Blood, guts, brutal kills, and more.” As fans of the movies themselves, the developers promise to give fellow fans a game that’s reminiscent of the original franchise: “You want an experience true to the films, and so do we.”

Take a look at the new trailer below to see some of the ways Jason’s victims will meet their gruesome ends in the upcoming game. Warning: This trailer is not for the faint-hearted!

Friday the 13th: The Game will be coming to Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC in October 2016.

I wanted to be Lara Croft when I grew up, but writing about video games seemed a little more realistic ;) I love action/adventure and horror games especially, and have a fondness for scouting out indie developers to see what treasures they have to offer the gaming world.
