I've had it with Arkham Knight PC shenanigans, which is why WB Games shouldn't even release a PC port.

According to a recent report from Kotaku Austrailia, the Batman: Arkham Knight PC port will not be ready until at least September.

If this is the case, someone can just go ahead and tell WB Games that we don’t care anymore. This is absolutely unacceptable, and WB Games can’t honestly expect us to sit around and wait for several months, until possibly November, for Arkham Knight on PC.

Meanwhile, as the months pass, we will see countless exciting titles be released. This means that even if Arkham Knight for PC is finally playable, there will be big titles such as Super Mario Maker, Rainbow Six Siege, and Fallout 4 already released. We are not going back to a game that let us down when there will be several exciting and working titles that we know will respect our valuable game time (and money).

This is why there might as well not even be an Arkham Knight PC port: By the time September and October roll around, we will be busy. Busy with school, work, and tons of newly released titles.

As a college student, I have to think about what games I feel are worth $40-$60 and which ones can wait until my birthday or the holiday season. Which is why, if I were a PC gamer, I would just move on. After being disrespected, lied to, and cheated out of my money, I am now expected to wait for up to 3 more months for the game I was supposed to get a working copy of several weeks ago? No.

This situation makes WB Games look like that friend who always asks to borrow money, but never pays you back. They swear they’ll have it for you soon, and then soon becomes a few weeks, and then a few weeks becomes a few months. And then you reach a point where you don’t really even care about what they owe you, you just want nothing to do with them.

This will, hopefully, be an impactful lesson for WB Games and game developers everywhere. Your game must be ready to play, and if it isn’t, don’t sell it to the masses and pretend like everything is okay. Because it isn’t.

Rarely is one game so important that we will drop everything to play it, yet alone wait an extra three or four months for a broken game to be fixed. Most gamers will move on without the blink of an eye, and drop your game as if it was nothing. Which sucks, because on consoles the game is excellent, but we shouldn’t have to wait around for a game that should have worked upon release.

Let’s also remember the dismal sales numbers of PC ports of games that showed up late. According to VGChartz, GTA V for PC has globally sold only 400,000 units thus far, and compared to the rampant success that GTA V has been, those sales numbers are not stellar. This is also in spite of the fact that the GTA V PC port was overall pretty great, despite it’s late arrival.

Additionally, PC games coming out later than their console counterparts hurt the platform in general, and then frustration occurs on the side of PC gamers.

So Arkham Knight on PC released at a low quality. Then add the seemingly inevitable multiple-month delay, and you have set your self up for failure.

By the way, here are some of the games that come out in September: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, Super Mario Maker, FIFA 16, Assassin’s Creed Syndicate  and Mighty No. 9. I, along with many other gamers, will be playing those games, not waiting patiently for Arkham Knight on PC.

Add in October and November releases such as Rainbow Six Siege, Halo 5: Guardians, Call of Duty: Black Ops 3, Fallout 4, and Star Wars: Battlefront, and Arkham Knight on PC has become an afterthought.

Why would we go back to a game made several months ago by a company who tried to sell us a subpar product? Especially with all of the exciting titles that I listed above.

WB Games, we will move on, forget your game, and spend our time and money on games that respect our time and are worth our dollar.

So you might as well just indefinitely suspend the Arkham Knight PC port. Because, frankly, me and my friends who play games don’t really care any more.
