Enigami’s Shiness Kickstarter is a Highly Ambitious RPG With Heart

Shiness is an beautiful looking game by the independent studio Enigami who are looking for funding for this ambitious project.

RPGs have been a part of the gaming community for years thanks to their in-depth stories, colorful casts of character, and the epic feeling that you, as the player, are exploring an entire world whose fate relies on your ragtag group of heroes. Lately, the RPG genre has been getting more diverse, where creative people have the chance to really explore all of the possibilities an RPG can produce, meaning we have been seeing some truly unique gems in our midst.

Enigami’s Shiness is a game that is attempting to use elements from both JRPG – or Japanese Role Playing Game – as well as elements from popular other games like Naruto Ninja Storm in order to make a unique anime-like universe for the gamers to explore.

The game’s artwork appears to take inspiration with from various anime styles, showcasing both the subdued and slightly outrageous parts of the culture as a whole. The game looks bright and colorful, but also appears to have a darker tone to it at times, especially with the games overarching plot that is mentioned on the Kickstarter page:

“A long time ago on a planet called Mahera, many species lived together in harmony. They were all linked by a spiritual energy, source of life and progress. This Energy was called the Shi.

“As the civilizations were thriving, the Shi started dwindling which eventually led to a devastating war. The storm of violence unleashed by living beings became unstoppable. The green grass in the valleys was coated by ashes and the rain suddenly became a reminder of the horror suffered by the crying of a planet its own children were mistreating. The all-encompassing link the Shi was once able to maintain failed, hence causing the core of the planet – its heart – to collapse. Crackles appeared all around the globe and then, in a gigantic explosion, Mahera became a cloud of dirt and lightning bolts, enclaving each civilization to its own part of the globe:

“Meteora masses of land-floating nearby from one another, forever separated both physically and spiritually.

Since those dark times, Human, Sheiks and Waki rebuilt their lives separately and life went on.”

Judging from the trailer, the game appears to be an exploration title; doing quests as well as finding out about the world around the player will be essential to the experience. It’s very open-ended, giving the player lots of choices along with the ability to shape the world that they want to shape it. Choice is one of the most important parts of an RPG and often drives the entirety of the game. With Shiness, it appears the entire game will be driven by the choices you as the player make.

Shiness looks like a promising Indie RPG from a studio that has put in three years of time and effort to make this game the best it can be and it shows. Shiness looks fantastic and, depending on the Kickstarter funding, it might become an even better looking or more promising if funding is met.

If fully funded, Shiness will be available on PS4,Mac, PC, and Linux.
