Dragon Quest Heading to Smartphones
The Dragon Quest series is getting the smartphone treatment, with the first eight games slated to arrive on iOS and Android.
Dragon Quest up to Dragon Quest 8: Journey of the Cursed King will see mobile versions, with the first dropping this year. A newly released teaser site has also confirmed that the smartphone versions will both be released in Japan this winter.
As of now, there has been no word on how much you can expect to cough up for the games, and there has also been no info on which versions of the games will be ported.
This is considering that quite a few of the games in the franchises have had more than one version. Dragon Quest 4, 5 and 6 were just given DS versions with Dragon Quest 7 remade for Nintendo 3DS... the latter of which I still don't have, mind you, since they haven't been released in America.
The announcement has only been made for Japan thus far, but Square Enix did just release smartphone ports for Final Fantasy 1-5 after all. Of course, I'm sure I am not the only one slightly peeved that I may get these on my smartphone before my 3DS or Vita, but maybe good things come to those who wait... maybe.
Along with the Dragon Quest ports, Square Enix is also coming out with a brand new game in the series title Dragon Quest Monsters: Super Light. As seen on the teaser site for the game, Super Light will be released for iPhone, iPad and Android.
