Some new information has been released on how to obtain cards in Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft.
As previously stated, Hearthstone is free. It has an optional buy in with card packs costing $1. However, you can earn cards by just playing the game.
There are quite a few different ways to get cards, free or for the previously mentioned $1:
Practice Mode, where you play against A.I. opponents allows you to unlock new heroes, as well as some basic cards. Play Modes puts you against other players, allowing you to use decks you custom built; there is a chance for you to win card packs.
The Forge is where you and your opponent construct decks by selecting cards from a random assortment, one by one; you win the cards you pick and can possibly win more; it costs a number of packs to enter this mode.
Crafting allows you to disenchant your expert cards into arcane dust which is used to build new cards. Card Packs containing five new cards may be purchased through various payment methods (including your Battle.net Balance); one card is guaranteed to be rare. Some achievements will grant you additional cards.
