PS Vita - Sales on Fire Thanks to PS4

The increase in sales of the PS Vita after the launch of the PS4 seems to confirm they are a match made in heaven

So the PS Vita has been out for a moment and for the longest time it seemed to just be sitting on shelves. The PS4 seems to be changing that, causing an increase in sales, from the remote play capabilities.

The PS4 remote play feature allows an owner of both the PS4 and PS Vita to, play a variety of PS4 titles on their 5 inch PS Vita screen over their wifi connection. It also allows access to the owner's media stored on the PS4. Those pictures, music and videos can be viewed on the PS Vita also.

The other reason that is certainly helping Sony is the price cut, bringing the PS Vita down to the more reasonable price of $175. The surge has increased the PS Vita sales by 68% during the first week of launch of the PS4. In the second week, this decreased slightly to 65%. Still that is a rather strong increase for the almost ignored handheld gaming device.

“We've already seen amazing feedback from PS4 owners on the Remote Play feature, and the success of Tearaway highlights what a great proposition PS Vita is, either as a standalone device or as the perfect companion to PS4." - Ben Law, of Sony

The PS Vita and PS4 do seem like the perfect couple, with the OLED Screen supported by the PS4's next-gen graphics. So those new titles like COD: Ghosts and Battlefield 4 being played on the little PS Vita, certainly make it a interesting concept.

The bottom line is that if you have considered picking up a PS Vita, now might be the time to do it. If you have tried to decide if the PS4 or Xbox One is the right console for you, this is certainly something to take into account now. Especially with the release of Minecraft for PS4 and PS Vita coming up in March 2014. So what do you think? Do you think that the PS Vita surge is just the Holiday rush and it will start to fizzle soon? Let me know I would love to hear some of your comments on this.

I'm happy to see this news, but I know only one thing can really save (and push) the Vita:

Compelling exclusive software. Tearaway was fantastic but it just needs more.

Well my opinion of Sony has always been the better the product does, the more they will push it.
