Mirror’s Edge Catalyst delayed to ensure “highest quality possible”

Mirror's Edge: Catalyst will be delayed until May 24, 2016.

Electronic Arts has announced that Mirror’s Edge: Catalyst, the much-anticipated sequel to 2008’s Mirror’s Edge, has been officially delayed. Sara Jansson, Senior Producer of Mirror’s Edge: Catalyst wrote the following statement:

“We’re building the most immersive action-adventure game with fluid movement and combat in first person,” the company also wrote, “Mirror’s Edge Catalyst will be an all-new playground with a deeper and more engaging story – and we want to accomplish all these goals to the highest quality possible.”

The game will be delayed to May 24, 2016, the original date being February 23, 2016. Jansson also added, “We will use these few extra months to make sure that when you step into the massive City of Glass and experience the rise of Faith, it’s as entertaining, impressive, and memorable as it can be.” There is no official technical reason to why the game is being delayed but we assume that there are still bugs floating in the game.

It’s good to see game developers not being afraid to delay games in order to release a perfect product rather than releasing bug infested games just to make a release date. Kudos to EA on this decision, hopefully, the time added will result in a complete and amazing game.
