Cookie Clicker 2.0 was released quite recently, so here’s a few tips for those who want to try out the game for the first time – or people who want go through it again.

1. Buy a lot of Grandmas

Grandma

Just like the advice says, start by baking enough cookies to hire a few Grandmas. They get plenty of upgrades throughout the game’s many cycles, so they end up being one of the best ways to increase your cookie multiplier. They even rival some of the late-game buildings, so make sure you invest in them early so that you get plenty of bonuses.

2. Avoid the farms

Buying the Cookie Farms may seem like a good idea at first, but as you approach the mid-game that’ll change. Farm quickly outgrow their usefulness as the game progresses, to the point where you’ll want to avoid wasting resources.

3. Buying Cursors

You should eventually buy lots of Cursors when you can buy them in bulk. They’ become super-useful later in the game, but you shouldn’t need any more than around 200-ish to get to through your first prestige. Similarly to the Grandma units, they also garner numerous upgrades that improve their usefulness near the end of the game.

4. Work toward getting “Shipments”

You’ll want to get the ability to receive Cookie Shipments as quickly as possible, as they’ll provide quite a substantial boost for beginning players.

5. Buy all the upgrades you can

As soon as you can, buy any upgrades that become available. Even if they don’t seem particularly helpful at first, every little bit will help if you want to get through your first level of ascension.

6. Ascend!

When you’ve got enough cookies, you’ll get the option to “Ascend” for the first time, and increase your prestige level. You’ll end up resetting your entire game from scratch, but ascending allows the game to regain your progress a little quicker each time. This will allow for increasingly higher-priced upgrades to appear, and more perks available for subsequent playthroughs.

Cookie Clicker is a long grind that requires a lot of patience, but seeing your cookie amount reach the quadrillions is worth the wait. There’s also a lot of other strategies to follow, so in addition to these tips, see what works best for you!
