Resident Evil 4 released on Wii U Virtual Console

The Resident Evil franchise lives again on the Wii U, this time in the form of the Gamecube classic.

Resident Evil fans will be happy to know that Resident Evil 4 will make its appearance on the Nintendo Wii U, as a download from the Wii U Virtual Console.

This would mark the second time the game has been re-released on Nintendo consoles after its initial appearance on the Gamecube, as the title has appeared on the original Wii console, and now sees a release on the Nintendo Wii U.

This title was a slight departure in the series gameplay mechanics and atmosphere from "survival horror" to a far more action-oriented experience. There was also a change in the camera's adjustment from a more overhead camera view with fixed images, into a third-person camera angle that has continued throughout the series so far.

While the game has generally been well-received among most reviewers, the most recent RE entries have seen slight backlash from the fans for abandoning the survival horror roots on the series.

Resident Evil 4 is available on the Wii U virtual console for purchase now.
