Meet Wristocat: Your Hand’s New Best Friend

If you’re anything like me, you’re basically glued to a computer all hours of the day…and sometimes into the night. Especially if you’re a PC gamer. As you’ve probably heard countless times, sitting in front of a keyboard all day isn’t the best thing for your body — particularly not your wrists, arms, and hands.

This can be solved with ergonomic keyboards and mice, but those things are expensive, bulky, and sometimes have a learning curve. Getting a glorified piece of foam to rest your arms or wrist on isn’t always the best (or most comfortable) solution either — especially if you do a lot of moving, as gamers invariably will.

Enter Wristocat, a product that recently launched on IndieGoGo. Inspired by felines, this wrist rest might not look too different from what you’ve seen before — until you look a little closer. The thing floats! Yes, the Wristocat uses magnetism to create a cushion of air between the base and the top, allowing for more movement and comfort than wrist rests of days past.

The Wristocat could be used for high-movement games, like League of Legends and Dota, especially when single games can last easily up to an hour. And, like potato chips, it’s impossible to play just one! I know my wrist hurts after playing a couple games of LoL, and this looks like it might save me from so much pain! I can also see this being used in the competitive scene, especially since eSports is such a deceptively physical activity!

As mentioned, Wristocat is currently crowdfunding on IndieGoGo — right now, backers can preorder the Wristocat for 28% off of retail price at $25+ shipping, if they manage to get the “Early Bird” perk. If funded, Wristocats will be shipped out in July of 2016.

What do you think? Have you ever used a ergonomic product for your setup? Is the Wristocat something you’d use? Let me know in the comments!
