Gauntlet Returns This Fall

A reboot of the hack and slash classic comes soon to a PC near you.

The original Gauntlet was released in arcades back in 1985.  It introduced us to a 4 player co-operative adventure where we can take up to three of our friends through dungeons and try to make to the exit while swimming through hordes of baddies.  The game made its way onto home consoles and even saw several sequels, specifically Gauntlet Legends and Gauntlet Seven Sorrows.

It has been around eight years since a new Gauntlet adventure, but in September that will change.  Gauntlet Darkness Calls is a reboot of the franchise and will be available on September 3, 2014 for PC and Linux through Steam.  The game will be available for $19.99 and is now available for preorder.

Darkness Calls will keep the classic feel set forth by the original.  It will play out from a top down camera view.  You will get to choose from the four character classes set forth by the original game: Warrior, Wizard, Valkyrie, and Elf.  The game will also retain the traditional hack and slash mechanics that made the series so fun to play.

The preorder includes some really cool stuff.  For one, you will get a new digital comic from DC Entertainment for a limited time, and it serves as a prequel to the game.  You will also receive access to the Azkog the Demon Slayer Weapon and the Reaper’s Visage Helm.

So whether your Valkyrie is about to die or your Warrior needs food, get ready to delve back into the dungeons looking for keys and exits with your friends.

I have been into videogames my whole life. Started out with an Atari 2600 playing Combat and Berzerk. Now I'm playing games like Titanfall and Plants vs Zombies on Xbox One and 360. I am a fan of cartoons and sci fi. Family Guy, American Dad, Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Star Trek, Star Wars and Battlestar Galactica are some of my favorites. I used to be into comics, more specifically X-Men but I haven't collected in years. My favorite games are the Mass Effect series, Elder Scrolls series, Doom and Descent. When I grow up I wanna be Wolverine ;)
