The passion of video game fans is unparalleled, as evidenced by this contest.

There are some incredibly creative gamers out there.

Naughty Dog held a design contest revolving around their most recent masterpiece, The Last Of Us, and the fans really responded. The winners were just revealed over at the PlayStation Blog and as you can see, people really put a lot of thought into their ideas.

All told, the studio received over 360 submissions in just over three weeks. As Naughty Dog Community Strategist Eric Monacelli said, there were both “silly” and “serious” designs and, above all else, passionate imagination abounded. It was a difficult task to pick the winners, as you might expect.

The Grand Prize winner is the t-shirt in the center of the picture above, the one with the word “Endure” on it. That was chosen by the gaming community and I’d have to agree with the selection. Guest judges Ashley Johnson (Ellie) and Troy Baker (Joel) picked the two runner-up winners, while Neil Druckmann (TLoU Creative Director) and Bruce Straley (TLoU Game Director) handed out the special category winners.

These designs have become t-shirts you can purchase and wear, if you’re so inclined. You can find them at the We Love Fine website. The good news is that the site agreed to possibly produce more t-shirts and items based on your art. Time for another contest, I hope!

This hobby tends to promote creativity

I’m not much of an artist, but I know video games are rooted in creativity and imagination. After all, we’re talking about interactive fantasies that began in the active mind. It’s no surprise to me that gamers can produce such great fan art.
