So you know your relative plays Magic, and you know they would love it as a gift, but you don't know what's the right thing to buy for them. Play mats sometimes include life and other trackers on the side. If you're not sure which mat to get, going with the best image for the player is a good idea. There are even some sites that will create a custom mat using one of your own images. The price skyrockets for mats like that, but the personal value is worth it.
Card Sleeves

Out of all your options on this list, card sleeves have the most variations on them. They are usually defined by the designs on the back. They typically come in packs of 50 each, and at least two packs are necessary to be useful to a player. There are different sizes of sleeves. If you check out a local game store, anyone behind the counter should be able to tell you what size sleeve Magic cards use.
