Nintendo Network has released a Shiny Rayquaza through the Mystery Gift for Pokémon Alpha Sapphire and Omega Ruby.

With little fanfare, Nintendo has released its lastest Mystery Gift to the masses of North America. Starting today, owners of Alpha Sapphire and Omega Ruby can log into their Mystery Gift and recieve a Shiny Rayquaza!

This powerful Dragon/Flying Pokémon comes at level 70 and knows the moves Dragon Claw, Extreme Speed, Dragon Dance, and Dragon Ascent. It also comes equipped with a Dragon Fang, a held item which boosts the power of Dragon-type moves. It has the ability Air Lock, which eliminates the effects of weather on the Pokémon.

Like many of the Pokémon of the Alpha Sapphire/Omega Ruby games, Rayquaza can Mega-Evolve. Unlike most mega-Pokémon, however, Rayquaza does not require a Mega-stone to evolve, but rather must have the move Dragon Ascent learned. Fortunately for players, this promotional Rayquaza already has the move – so don’t accidentally remove it!

To download Rayquaza, make certain that your 3DS is connected to wireless. Start up Alpha Sapphire or Omega Ruby and select ‘Mystery Gift’ from the menu. Choose ‘Receive Gift’, then select ‘Get Via Internet’. After a moment of searching, it will receive the Shiny Rayquaza! Simply pick it up at any PokéCenter – make certain you have a free slot in your party – and enjoy!

Reminder: At level 70, Rayquaza requires the Feather Badge from Winonna to control. Be aware that attempting to use Rayquaza before you have the Feather Badge may result in stubborn refusal and unexpected naps.
