The Top 3 Additions to Look Forward to in Alpha 15 Release of 7 Days to Die

A look at the top 3 additions I'm most excited for in the alpha 15 update.

From the first time I booted up 7 Days to Die, back in the early Kickstarter days, I knew that this game was going to be something I could lose countless hours in. Skip ahead several alpha releases and roughly 400 hours of game time, and I still enjoy myself every time I start the game up -- whether it’s solo-play or banding together with friends against the horde.

And with the talk of alpha 15 from the dev team, The Fun Pimps, on the forums and dev vlogs on YouTube, I can’t help but to get excited for all of the new features and additions. So with that being said, let’s dive into the top 3 additions that I’m most looking forward to.

1. Bandits

For the uninitiated, 7 Days to Die is a game about surviving and crafting. Up until this point, the survival has been against zombies of all different types, starvation, dehydration, infection, and the elements. While these are difficult circumstances to be sure, there has been a distinct lack of life to the world (no pun intended). The addition of other survivors has been something I’ve been looking forward to for some time and, like real situations of survival, there are those who are going to be the predators and those who will be the prey.

The addition of bandits to the game will give an added layer of difficulty and more excitement to scavenging, upping the risk vs. reward factor. Now, not only do you have to worry about the shambling horde as you’re looking for medical supplies, but also for that bandit patrol with the trigger-happy, assault rifle wielding leader.

2. Trading Posts

Another type of NPC that you’re bound to see in a situation like this would be the trader. Whether he is a merchant of death who's peddling weapons and ammo, or a farmer looking to trade some of his crops for cash, the ability to barter is something that’s been long-awaited in 7 Days to Die. While you can trade with others based on your own rules, having designated traders and trading outposts can add some more fun to the game in a number of ways.

It can allow for a “safe zone,” a place for players to come together and do some trading, be it actual goods or just some gossip on a PvP heavy server. It could also provide a place that players would want to control, because commodities are king in the post-apocalyptic wastelands. And it gives us someplace to spend those scavenged casino tokens…wait, you were scrapping those!?!?

3: New Points of Interest

While it’s always fun making that first scavenging run to Diersvill or a gun run to one of the army camps in Navezgane, it’s always exciting to stumble across something new -- and there seems to be a number of new points of interest that could be added to the game, and possibly random gen.

Being a fan of The Walking Dead, the possible addition of a small prison complex just screams at me to make it my last bastion of survival in the wasteland. There is also the trader outpost, ripe for the picking or profiteering, and a bandit shanty town -- because even the bandits need someplace to run to when the horde is out in full force.

So there you have it, the top 3 things I’m most eager to see in the alpha 15 release for 7 Days to Die. What of the new features do you look forward to the most? Let me know in the comments below. And until my next post, good luck out there survivors.
