Announcement of “Lords of the Fallen” Release Date Promises a Happy Halloween for Gamers

Ex-Witcher Producer Thomasz Gop is Treating Gamers this Halloween with "Lords of the Fallen"

CI Games announced Lords of the Fallen last year and touted it as Borderlands meets Dark Souls.” Today a release date was officially announced that has the game dropping on October 31st this year. This dark hack and slash fantasy RPG has high aspirations, but coming from the mind of Tomasz Gop – producer behind the Witcher franchise – players can expect Lords to live up to the hype.

Lords of the Fallen takes place in a world that has just overcome a wicked god and his demonic armies. As a result of their victory, humans have become polarized against anything evil or cruel and created a Codex of Sin – a book wherein every dark deed is written. Anyone who perpetrates an act from this book is branded and cast out forever. Centuries pass with the Codex as law, but soon demons begin reappearing and society decides that their only hope for defeating these monsters is to find the most branded sinner and have him return as a champion. You are the sinner. You are the champion.

With the release date announcement CI Games has actually upped the ante and stated that Lords of the Fallen while definitely taking inspiration from the Dark Souls series is not just going to be a PS4/XBox One version of From Software’s mercilessly punishing hack-and-slash. In an interview with IGN, Tomasz Gop, executive producer at CI Games, stressed the importance of story in Lords and said the combat will be much faster-paced than in Dark Souls.

Initial gameplay videos have fans of both games saying that Lords will be easier than the Souls games; many players found the latter to be too punishing.

Lords of the Fallen will release on Halloween this year, and until then GameSkinny will have all the information you need to stay in the loop.
