“Now! Er… Well, I mean, when it comes out. Or a little after. Or at least confirmation?”
Yes, some GTA fans are sore that Rockstar is keeping so tight lipped about releasing a PC version of the upcoming Grand Theft Auto V, and they’re serious, dammit.
I mean, like, petition serious.
The appeal, posted on Change.org, has thus far garnered over 114,000 signatures, about 70,000 of which were posted in six days.

This move came after Rockstar could only give definite confirmation of PlayStation 3 and Xbox iterations, saying that any other platform was only “under consideration.”
From Rockstar’s Dan Hauser:
Everything else is up for consideration. That’s all I can give you. The main thing is we are not… we are a third-party publisher. We’re not Nintendo, we’re not Sony, we’re not Microsoft. We love all of them in different ways. But we can do what we want wherever there’s the appropriate business opportunity and chance to find a market. If that’s on Apple we put something on Apple. Wherever it might be. I think that’s the fun in what we do. We see ourselves as a content company that uses technology. We don’t make it; we use it to make the most fun stuff.
One one hand, frustration is understandable; GTA has a track record of PC and console releases, so of course, hesitating to announce such in this case does not bode well.
On the other hand, perhaps Rockstar is being a responsible game maker (or, at least more responsible than Bethesda), and only wanting to release, or even speak on, a product that may not meet their standards.
Either way, I can appreciate how frank the Rockstar folks are when it comes to explaining themselves. They can say, in essence, “Hey, that just doesn’t work for us,” bluntly, without beating around the bush, and that’s something that’s hard to come by anymore.
