Final Fantasy Explorers Job Guide: Paladin

Want to tank with the Paladin Job in final Fantasy Explorers? Then check out this guide!

The Paladin Job in Final Fantasy Explorers is a Tank that also has a decent Spirit stat for healing. They are proficient in Sword Skills and are the only class besides Knight that can equip Pavises. They can support the team with heals if needed along with their tanking.

I will go over the basics of the Paladin job, describe the play styles, give an example of a build, and more. Check out my Beginner Tips and Tricks for more help with the game.

This guide will go over everything about the Paladin job in Final Fantasy Explorers including:

  • Paladin Job Basics – Everything you need to know when deciding whether or not to play Paladin.
  • Paladin Ability Build – An example build that I use for Paladin and why I use it.
  • Paladin Job Mastery  – What you need to complete the Mastery Trials: Paladin quest and what you get for doing it.
  • Paladin Job Equipment – What materials you need to craft the Paladin-Only gear and how to get them.

Paladin Job Basics

Paladins are Tanks, but can deal a decent amount of damage based on their defense. Their unique ability, Cover, will nullify all attacks for everyone inside the barrier. You can also hold the button down to keep it up at the cost of more AP. This is great for protecting your team during attacks that would instantly kill them.

The passive ability, Sanctuary, makes Paladins less likely to get a status ailment and increases malice towards them. This is great as a Tank, because you won’t have to worry about crippling status ailments as much and it is easier to get enemies to attack you instead of teammates.

Knights can get malice easier than Paladins, but Paladins have a good Spirit stat to help heal. They also have better magic defense than Knight.

Paladin Ability and Mutations Build

I’m going to give you the build I currently use for Paladin and describe why so you can get a good idea of one of the ways you can play Paladin. If you need info on mutations and how to get each one, visit my Mutations and Crystal Surge Reference List.

Final Fantasy Explorers Paladin ability

Left Abilities
  • X – Cover
    • Suggested Mutations – Remove Ailments
  • Y – Holy Grail
    • Suggested Mutations – Remove Ailments
  • A – Sentinel
    • Suggested Mutations – Link Ability, Duration Up, Buffs
  • B – Rampart
    • Suggested Mutations – Link Ability, Duration Up, Buffs
Right Abilities
  • X – Acala
    • Suggested Mutations – Link Ability, Damage Buffs, Elements
  • Y – Moonlight Slash
    • Suggested Mutations – Link Ability, Damage Buffs, Elements
  • A – Deflect
    • Suggested Mutations – Regen, Remove Ailments
  • B – Powerful Bash
    • Suggested Mutations – Link Ability, Damage Buffs, Elements

Cover and Deflect both nullify an attack, but Cover does it for the group as well. Holy Grail heals the group and increases if you have Accuracy and Defense buffs. If you happen to get status ailments, putting remove ailments on any or all of these will help.

Sentinel and Rampart are both defensive buffs. Sentinel nullifies damage up to 50% of your max HP, while Rampart increases your Defense and Parry Rate. You can link these together and raise their duration with mutations.

Moonlight Slash is an attack that also greatly increases Malice. This is good for any Tank, but will help a Paladin a lot since they can’t get Malice as easily as a Knight.

Acala does damage based on your P-Defense. It can be charged and will instantly charge after a critical hit. Powerful Bash is another strong attack that can stun Eidolons if used right after Deflect. Adding attack buffs, linking, and element mutations can greatly increase your damage.

Paladin Job Mastery

When you complete 10 quests as a Paladin, you can do the Mastery Trials: Paladin quest. You must defeat Dryad to complete the quest.

Completing this will do multiple things:

  • Allows Paladins to dual wield
  • Allows Paladin to equip daggers and spears
  • Increases max HP and AP for Paladin
  • Gives Paladin Guide

The last part is an item used to craft gear that only the Paladin Job can equip.

Paladin Job Equipment

Final Fantasy Explorers Paladin equipment

All of the Paladin Only equipment starts with the word Integrity. There are pieces for Head, Torso, and Legs. Besides the unique look, Job specific gear adds 5 to your max ability load and takes away 1 from the base equipment trait for each piece. This gives you a total of 15 extra Load.

They all require the same types of materials, but torso uses more. Below is a list of the materials needed and where to get them.

  • Paladin Guide – Completing Mastery Trials: Paladin quest.
    • Amount Needed: 1 for each piece, total of 3.
  • Death Knight Skull – Drops from Death Knight monsters, located in Leggi Woods.
    • Amount Needed: 1 for each, total of 3.
  • Bat Wing – Drops from Leech Bat monsters, located in Hibat Foothills.
    • Amount Needed: 2 for each, total of 6.
  • Amostran Coconut – Random from gathering nut spots.
    • Amount Needed: 3 for Head and Legs, 4 for Chest, total of 10.

This is it for my guide on Paladin in Final Fantasy Explorers. Let me know if you have any questions or suggestions!
