To celebrate the scariest of seasons, the folks at NetherRealms have added a special Injustice: Gods Among Us Challenge Mode!

It’s the Blackest Knight! The resurrected walking corpse version of Batman from the Blackest Night story arc.

This new special Batman is effectively a skin, since he has no new abilities or different stats than the regular Gold Level Batman. But, hey it’s still creepy cool.

Challenge of the Undead

If you can complete 63 battles in Injustice‘s 3 vs 3 combat, you can bring the Darkest Knight home to your Injustice roster.

Each battle costs Challenge Currency, which is earned in regular play or purchased in the Item Shop.

There are five series of challenges. For each you complete after the first two, you win a prize. So, you don’t need to complete them all to win something.

For each set of battles you win, you get a part of Black Lantern Batman’s gear (Cowl, Utility Belt, Black Lantern Ring, Gauntlet, Batarang)If you win all five challenges, then the Gold Level Blackest Night Batman is added to your collection.

  • 24 Fights Won – Free Bronze Booster Pack (worth 8,000 credits)
  • 36 Fights Won – +15,000 Power Credits
  • 48 Fights Won – Free Silver Booster Pack (worth 35,000 credits)

You have 10 days to complete the challenge, starting Oct. 24th.

The Walking Super Dead

The Blackest Night series of DC comics created a story arc of the Black Lanterns, who were resurrecting dead superheros and villains into a growing army that threatened to engulf the universe.

As valiant heroes and vile villains fell, the Corps would resurrect their bodies into a new undead Black Lantern.

At some point, Dick Grayson dons the cape and cowl to help the rest of the Bat-family fight the threat – including his own resurrected parents. Only to find that there is Zombie Batman fighting for the Black Lanterns.

But, in the end, the Blackest Knight turned out to actually be a resurrected clone created by Darkseid.
