Notice: Pixelmon Minecraft on Android is Not a Game!

Don't download Pixelmon Minecraft off Google Play and expect anything good out of it.

Do you love Pokemon and Minecraft? Me too! So of course I was interested in Pixelmon Minecraft when I saw it on Google Play. Unfortunately it happens to not be a game. It is, however, a suspicious wallpaper app.

The reality is the Pixelmon Minecraft found in the Free Games section of Google Play is really a set of wallpapers, and conveniently enough they have ads. How lovely.

Update: Pixelmon Minecraft has been removed from Google Play!

If you look at the reviews on Google Play, other Android users echo the same sentiment: This is not a game. What a disappointment.

The app's description in itself is ripped from a Minecraft PC mod in progress named Pixelmon. The description seen on Google Play was taken from this tutorial page specifically. A bit suspicious, isn't it?

I cannot vouch for the actual Minecraft mod, but the Pixelmon Minecraft app should be avoided at all costs. The description, screenshots, and actual app itself are suspect. Considering the bait-and-switch tactics to getting people to download it and the misleading title of the app, you should be wary.

This app should be removed from the 'Free Game' listings on Google Play.

Should you install it anyway (I did just to see for myself), you will be face to face with this lovely screen:

Talk about quality!

...I really have to wonder what the thoughts going into this sort of scheme even are. "Hey, you know what'd be a great way to make cash? Pretending we're Minecraft but really just giving wallpapers and adds!"

Who thinks that's a good idea? Who thinks they're not going to get caught for that?

Incredible the lengths that some people will go to in order to sucker people in, just so they can make a bit of money from the advertisements.

I'm just glad that this (hopefully) doesn't do anything more malicious.
