Patrick Munnik, Lead Producer at Guerrilla Games, Has Passed Away

Patrick Munnik played key roles in the development of both Killzone: Shadowfall and Horizon: Zero Dawn.

In a memorial post shared to the company's official Twitter account today, Guerrilla Games confirmed the passing of Patrick Munnik, lead designer at the Netherlands-based studio. 

Munnik passed away on June 10 at the age of 44. As of this writing, a cause of death has not been released.  

According to his Linkedin, Munnik had worked at Guerrilla Games since 2011. He held a Bachelor of Science in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from the Hogeschool van Amsterdam.

Munnik worked on some of Guerrilla's most iconic franchises, including Killzone: Shadow Fall and Horizon: Zero Dawn. Early in his career at Guerrilla, Munnik also worked on DLC for Killzone 3, before moving to those bigger projects in 2013 and 2017, respectively. 

According to a biography on the LevelUp conference website, Munnik "initially worked as a C++ programmer in different industries before gradually transitioning to the role of Project Manager." 

There has been an outpouring of support and love on social media for Munnik's family, as well as the entire Guerrilla team. 

We would like to extend our condolences to all of those affected by his passing.
