The Mighty No. 9 Kickstarter Hits Two of Its Stretch Goals After Three Days!

Mac and Linux users rejoice! Mighty No. 9 has reached the first two of its stretch goals in under three days!

Recently announced on Saturday at PAX PrimeMighty No. 9, the new title coming from Keiji Inafune and his development studio Comcept, has been one of the hottest topics in recent gaming news. Seen as the spiritual successor to Mega Man, fans can now say that their dreams are coming true…and then some.

The Mighty No. 9 Kickstarter campaign reached its initial goal of $900,000 in under 48 hours. That alone is an amazing task and goes to show that this style of game is still wanted in today’s gaming market. All you have to do is search Mighty No. 9 on Twitter and see the hundreds of tweets that have been going out every minute to spread the word about the game.

The team originally had 6 stages planned for the full funding mark of $900,000. However, since their first stretch goal of $1,200,000 has been reached, there will be an additional two stages added, making the total come to eight, much like every Mega Man game of yesteryear. But, that’s not all! While initially planned for a digital release on the PC, Mac and Linux users can now rest assured because the campaign hit the $1,350,000 stretch goal to make those versions happen..

The next stretch goal, $1,500,00 (which is almost within reach as of this writing), will add in a New Game Plus mode where players who finish the game can start a new, more difficult run of the game with certain powers or items carried over from their initial playthrough. This stretch goal will also add a Turbo Mode that will let players go through the game at a faster speed for an extra challenge.

With 27 days to go, it looks like it will only be a matter of time before they reach their final stretch goal of $2,500,000, thus enabling them to make PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii U versions as well. One things for certain: I know I’ll be playing this game some time in the future!

How about you? Have you backed the project yet? Or are you waiting to see if it’ll come out on consoles? Let me know in the comments below!
