Red Dead Redemption 2 Mods: The Best of the West

The best Red Dead Redemption 2 mods in one place, including RDR2 reshade mods, reskin mods, and a photo mode mod.

Red Dead Redemption 2 mods are already taking over the Wild West on PC. In fact, there has been a literal stampede of RDR2 mods since the game released just a short time ago.

The mods for RDR2 have just begun to arrive, so most of those aforementioned options aren't here (yet), but there are still some must-download mods already available for the game's new PC launch. From playing as a bird to removing the black bars during cinematics and a bunch of cheating trainers, these mods are worth taking a gander at.

You might notice that the "Arthur Morgan as the Joker" mod floating around other sites isn't listed here. That's because it doesn't actually work yet, so we aren't including it. Sadly, there's no living in a society in the Old West for you right now.

As a final note before we get started rounding up the best RDR2 PC mods, absolutely do NOT use any of these mods when playing Red Dead Online. You will unquestionably be banned.

Red Dead Redemption 2 Skip The Intro Mod

Don't want to play through the RDR 2 intro segment yet again when starting over? This mod is actually just a save file, so you *might* be able to use this one when playing Red Dead Online, but I still wouldn't recommend it just in case.

This is particularly useful if you already played the console version and don't want to go through the beginning and the protracted tutorial.

Red Dead Redemption 2 Get 30 Gold Bars Mod

Since the game just launched on PC, most of the "mods" available right now are save files with specific items acquired or story points completed.

This one gives you 30 gold bars, which is a huge boost in the money department and can be useful for completing several achievements. Unfortunately, it doesn't start at the beginning of the game where it would be most helpful, as the save is actually at 49.1% story completion.

The Red Dead Redemption 2 Nude Mod

This is the one you were really looking for anyway, right?

As a disclaimer, this mod comes with a bit of work. And no, it isn't primarily meant to give you free-roaming jibbly bits, though it can do that if you use it properly.

This is actually a mod called Lenny's Simple Trainer, and it's meant to let you teleport, move through walls, clear your wanted level, use unlimited explosive ammo... and swap out character models.

It's this last bit that's pertinent to the nude mod fans. Scrolling through the list of character models you might notice this hidden little gem:

U_F_M_RhdNudeWoman_01

Yeah, you can swap out Arthur's character model with a nude woman from Rhodes. The shenanigans to be had here with keeping Arthur's voice seem, well, limitless.

For now, this is all we have in terms of these sorts of mods, but I'd expect something on par with Skyrim's infamous Caliente's Beautiful Body mod to arrive for Red Dead Redemption 2 sooner rather than later.

Red Dead Redemption 2 Photo Mode Enhancer Mod

One of the biggest draws to RDR2 is the stunning level of cinematic visuals that portray the game's huge, open world.

When you're not robbing trains, hunting bears, or polishing your gun, you could spend hours just checking out the scenery, and this mod enhances that option by removing all restrictions on the free-moving camera. With the mod installed, you can check out anything in the game world regardless of distance.

Red Dead Redemption 2 Model Swap

Here we have a dedicated model swap mod, rather than a free-for-all like the trainer nude mod.

While you can use it to switch Arthur's model with Sadie Adler or another character, the real draw here is to play through the game as a bird, wolf, crab or fish, for example.

This particular mod is very much a work in progress, and it leads to some buggy and odd behavior during story segments. Due to how it swaps character models in save files, you may also lose some story progress if you don't first backup your game.

Red Dead Redemption 2 Widescreen FOV Mod

For the videophiles who need things to look just right on specific monitor resolution setups, this mod lets you adjust your field of view.

It also does something the previous Photo Mode Enhancer mod doesn't let you do: remove the black bars from cut scenes and cinematic mode!

After installing, open the mod while RDR2 is running then tap "F3" and "F8" to change the field of view until you have it exactly where you want it to be.

Read Dead Redemption 2 FLiNG Trainer Mod

This trainer one isn't focused on model swapping. Instead, it is your standard cheater mod.

Just tap the "NUM" keys to enable cheats like infinite health, stamina, and deadeye. Of course, you can also give yourself obnoxious sums of money. You can also get infinite items so you can keep restoring deadeye or health values without stopping during combat

Keep in mind that these cheats can cause some really unexpected in-game behavior, especially when you go somewhere you aren't meant to or enter an area where you are supposed to die but can't.

Red Dead Redemption 2 Longer Days Mod

You're going to have to do a little math to take advantage of this particular mod, since you have to figure out the seconds per minute crossover to get the exact length of in-game time you want to use.

Once that's dealt with, you can freely change the length of days and nights to whatever works best for your playstyle.

Keep in mind that some events and interactions can only happen at night, though, like seeing a UFO in a certain cabin, or finding the KKK in one of their ill-fated night time cross burning ceremonies (which will promptly lead you to beat their ass, of course).

Red Dead Redemption 2 Simple Slow Motion Mod

Like how the game slows down while using deadeye, but wish you could go into slo-mo mode in other areas? With this mod, you can now slow down to 40% speed at any time, whether you just want to admire the wildlife galloping across the landscape or need to have finer tuned control during combat sequences.

Red Dead Redemption 2 Real Western Reshade Mod

There are already several different reshade mods available to customize Red Dead Redemption 2's PC visuals to your preferences. This is one of the better options. It's a fairly subtle change to the colors that looks better than the others but isn't radically different. It won't cost you a ton of performance on a lower-end machine.

What did you think of our list of the best Red Dead Redemption 2 mods currently available for PC? What RDR2 mods are you most excited to try out?

There will undoubtedly be many more mods arriving soon as the community gets to work on updating the game, so if we missed any awesome mods you've seen, be sure to let us know and we'll add them to the list!
