Evolve is unique because it is a shooter with four different classes. Assault, trapper, support, and medic are all playable classes in Evolve, but that’s not all. Each class also has different characters to choose from, each with their own gear and weapons. This adds a huge amount of depth to the game that is very uncommon for most shooters.

Markov is the first character revealed and he’s an assault class character. He has a lot of health and deals a lot of damage.

Based on the names of the other classes, he will be the go-to character for people who want a straightforward shooter experience. Most likely, the assault class will be the class to pick if for diving in the center of the action.

Markov, the Kano looking assault class

There is no denying the resemblance between Markov and Kano. I wonder if his eye will have some part to play in his abilities, or if it is just for show. So far, it hasn’t been mentioned.

Markov has two large weapons for dealing optimal damage. The first is the lightning gun. This weapon is best used at close range and shoots out a blast of electricity to devastate enemies.

The second is the assault rifle. This weapon is best used for enemies out of range of the lightning gun.

All assault class characters also have the Personal Shield ability. Knowing how long the shield lasts is very important. If players don’t get a hold of using the shield optimally, they may end up dead.

Markov also arc mines to use strategically. These mines are electric charges that enemies set off, but not teammates, and have a variety of uses. They can alert you to where enemies are, guide enemies to a specific location, and close off routes. Players will take damage when they are in the area od the explosion, but it is minor.

This game seeks to make players work closely together in order to survive. I am even more excited about the game now that I know about the different classes available. I was not aware that each class would also have multiple characters to choose from, this is huge.

There will be a new character revealed tomorrow. For more information, visit the official Gameinformer website.
