EA VP Jeff Brown Steps Down

Vice President leaves EA, heads to other leading company.

Electronic Arts has had its up and downs for the past couple of months; game launches that didn’t go as planned and support that couldn’t fix major issues with AAA titles. Now it seems the company is taking another hit with the departure of their outspoken Vice President, Jeff Brown.

Brown was able to take controversy and turn it into some major publicity

Brown spent 14 years with the company and handled many of the major titles EA had released in that time. Popular titles like Battlefield 4, SimCity, and Mass Effect were all affected and mildly successful due to Jeff Brown and his ability to handle controversy and disappointment from gamers. He spent his time at EA combatting critics and fighting for the company to increase it’s somewhat questionable reputation.

He talked to VentureBeat about his departure:

“The only institution I have ever done longer is my marriage. When I started, I thought it would be a 12-month gig. I had no intention of staying that long. I fell in love with games, and I have a lot of close friends at EA. I am completely supportive of Andrew. But it was a good time for me to say goodbye.”

 Where is he headed now?

Brown is leaving to handle public affairs at the rapidly growing company GoPro. He stated the he “fell in love with GoPro and admired Nick Woodman;” Woodman is the founder of the sports camera company.

If Brown could handle publicity for EA during all those hard times, then it will be a breeze working for a company that is on the rise.
