EmberLab announced the Kena: Bridge of Spirits release date during Sony’s February State of Play alongside a brand-new trailer. Kena: Bridge of Spirits will release August 24, 2021, for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC via the Epic Games Store. As of now, it is not planned to launch on any Xbox platforms.
The price for Kena: Bridge of Spirits was shared, as well as news that pre-orders are open now. The standard edition costs $39.99, while the Digital Deluxe Edition, which includes a soundtrack, an in-game weapon, and in-game skins for Kena’s companion Rot, costs $49.99.
The new Kena trailer, which is the first since the game debuted during the PlayStation 5 reveal event, offered a more detailed glimpse into the gorgeous world Ember Lab created. Kena is a spirit guide in training, learning how to help departed souls move on to the next world.
Not all spirits are so willing to move on, and Kena will face plenty of opposition from both the forces of darkness and the grief of those left behind.
The trailer also highlighted some of the game’s fast paced combat, showing Kena wield her spirit guide staff against her foes both as a melee weapon and by launching projectiles. Kena dons a mask at one point, though what its use is — whether she needs it to view the spiritual plane or it grants her special powers — remains a mystery for the time being.
