Portal Without Portals! Aperture Tag Releases on Steam
I was once scrolling through YouTube when I stumbled across a video with the title 'Portal 2 without Portals?!' Intrigued, I began watching it and sure enough there were no Portal guns, well, not in the way that I knew them. Portal super-fans had remodelled Portal 2 so that instead of shooting orange and blue Portals it shot Repulsion and Propulsion Gel. I watched as the YouTuber zoomed and bounced around the map before finding the exit.

At this time the Mod was part of Steam Greenlight, being voted for by the Steam community. My initial thought while watching this was... "How? How can I play Portal without any Portals?" It didn't feel right! But I have to admit, all of that high-speed bouncing did look a whole lot of fun!
As of July 15th this odd 'portal without portals' concept, now known as Aperture Tag: The Paintgun Testing Initiative, has gotten a stamp of approval by Valve themselves by licensing it as a Portal 2 Mod to be sold for profit! It can already be purchased from Steam for PC and Mac.
Since watching the video above this mod has had a lot of work done for it. It now includes 27 original maps as well as an original story campaign with a new character! This mod also gives you the opportunity to get creative and model your own puzzles with an in-game level editor. As well as this there is: single-player and co-op workshop integration, original soundtrack by Abarax, Harry101UK, and Christopher McEvoy, Steam trading cards and full developer commentary.
“If you're like me, when you played Portal 2, you covered every room in as much bouncy gel as possible. Well now it's a whole lot easier, and you can color coordinate the walls with orange gel.”
