Dragon Age: Inquisition Drops The III

Dragon Age: Inquisition Drops The III And Goes Next-Gen

We all heard the announcement in September about the new Dragon Age III, yet at EA’s press conference at E3 the III was MIA. Luckily EA Labels president Frank Gibeau was able to shed some light on the decision to drop the numbers and just go with the title Dragon Age: Inquisition.

“I think there’s always this debate over numbers versus no numbers, what works, what doesn’t work,”. “We felt like we wanted to bring more attention to the word Inquisition, because that’s more the story arc of what it’s like. There’s a whole bunch of gameplay and features and big story choices related to how you go through this Inquisition that happens in the world.”.

“It’s a tactical marketing decision,”. “There wasn’t anything that strategic about it, to be blunt. We just wanted to draw more attention to the fact that Inquisition is an all-new chapter inside of the Dragon Age universe, as opposed to people expecting a follow-on to Dragon Age 1 and 2 in a literal, linear sense.”

For me personally the numbers don’t matter, what matters is story and Dragon Age has always had an amazing story to tell. The Inquisition sounds very interesting, and from the trailers we have seen I can’t wait to find out what the heck is going on. Also I am super excited to see Morrigan, it makes me happy to see that my wife from Origins is still alive and kicking.

When Dragon Age III was originally announced, it was not going to come to next-gen systems. With the advantages next-gen systems offer it would be a bad decision to ignore them altogether. Luckily, at E3 we were dazzled by the announcement of PS4 and Xbone versions of Dragon Age: Inquisition. Once again Frank Gibeau from EA gives us a little info on the decision to go next-gen.

We’re going to have PS3 and Xbox 360 and PC versions of Dragon Age III, so there will be a very broad-based experience there, but the new platforms are giving us the opportunity to tell stories in much larger worlds with more features and more things. From our perspective, we didn’t want to launch a “current-gen” game in a next-gen market. We took the opportunity to add resources, add time, and we brought in new technology. Frankly, we’ve raised our expectations.

It all sounds amazing and I can’t wait to check out Inquisition on the PC, sorry EA for all your hard work on next-gen systems but PC will win me over every time. Dragon Age Inquisition will be launching Fall of 2014 for the Xbox 360, PS3, PS4, Xbox One, and the PC.
