Introducing Fantasy FLootball.com: Loot-Based Fantasy Football Game Online

Have you ever wanted more role-playing elements in your Fantasy Football? Check out FLootball for your fantasy football league this fall.

If you’re like me, you have been roped into playing Fantasy Football in the past by friends telling you, “It’s just like a role-playing game.”

In some aspects, the statement is true. There are positions to learn, statistics to follow, but at the end of the day you can’t help your players get any better through grinding, new equipment, or leveling up. FLootball seeks to change all of that.

The newly launched website, www.FLootball.com, from Broken Envelope Productions, attempts to change up the standard fantasy football formula by adding in the standard role-playing game element of “Loot.”

According to Michael Cole, the co-founder of Broken Envelope productions,

“We felt that traditional fantasy football needed something to breathe new life into a somewhat mature gaming platform, plus, we saw the opportunity to appeal to a new sector of the gaming community with an innovative user experience.”

Honestly, I can’t believe someone didn’t think of this sooner. The ability to help my players score more points in any way other than screaming loudly at them on television seems like a gift from the gaming gods.

The game itself features more than 100 pieces of loot ranging from helmets to pants – each with a specific perk and pitfall that will boost points and penalties on game-day. So, I could give my QB a helmet that gives him 20% bonus points when he throws touchdowns, but also subtracts an extra 20% of points when he throws an interception.

Of course I do have some minor qualms with the “Free-to-Play” model that Flootball is using. The press release for the game specifically says that Loot can be earned or purchased. I am all for earning loot (and I don’t mind grinding for hours to do so) but the idea that one of my opponents could beat me with purchased loot goes against the whole point of fantasy football…to me at least.
