You know who you are. All you completionists, trophy/achievement whores out there. Like my fiancée, you all just can’t go on with your lives until you earn every last trophy or achievement out of a game. Heck, she can’t even go on to the third level of Call of Duty: Black Ops II because I earned a higher score than her and she “cannot be beat.” Very infuriating.
So I hereby present to you nine games that contain some of the hardest trophies to earn for the Playstation 4. May God have mercy on your souls. Muhahaha!
Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes – Hero
To earn this trophy you must earn an S ranking on every level. But fear not because it is actually quite easier to do compared to Peacewalker. Players now can take their time in each level, restart checkpoints and even get kills in some missions. You can also earn the trophy on any of the game’s difficulty settings. [side note: earning an S ranking on the “Jamais Vu” mission is not required for the trophy]
Outlast – Lunatic
To earn this particular gem of a trophy you must finish the game on Insane difficulty. Much easier said than done. Enemies will kill you with just a few hits, there are no checkpoints, and you cannot save the game. Also there are less batteries for you to pick up and you can only carry two batteries for your camcorder. One positive aspect is that enemies spawn and act exactly the same across all difficulties. So remembering where enemies walk and conserving your batteries are the best chances you have at earning this trophy.
Resogun – Masterful Dodger of Revenge Bullets and Stuff Alike
For this trophy, you must complete any level on Master difficulty. Before you can do this however, you must finish the game on Veteran difficulty. Once you have done this, you may attempt this trophy on any level you like and can even do it in co-op. The trick here is that the enemies have increased speed and health; but will also automatically fire a short range attack when they die. It is recommended that you attempt this on level one while using Ferox. Due to its main gun pushing enemies back which keeps them from getting too close for their revenge attack, Ferox is a safe bet for Master.
FIFA 14 – Silver Lining
This trophy is earned once you achieve a silver medal on all skill games. There isn’t much advise to offer other than practice makes perfect. It’s all about repetition. Also make sure to read all instructions carefully because they will offer up valuable clues. If you are having trouble with a particular game, try switching out your player at the main menu.
Sportsfriends – Got on Top
This trophy will be awarded if you can win Sportsfriends hidden game “Get on Top” 1000 times. First you must access this hidden game. To do so you must enter this code at the main menu:
up, right, down, left, up, right, down, left, X
You will then be put into the game where the objective is to make your opponent’s head hit the ground by using the analog sticks. You must do this 1000 times in one sitting for the trophy to pop up.
Killzone: Shadow Fall – Conscientious Killer
This trophy can be earned on any difficulty as well and is achieved by not having any civilian casualties during the game. Your advantage here is that Killzone tracks your kills by sections. So if you do not earn the trophy on a single play through, just use chapter replay and re-do any sections that have civilians on them. It also helps to avoid using the OWL or grenades.
Watch Dogs – Social Lubricant
Get your minds out of the gutter on this one. This insanely hard trophy is earned by reaching level 10 in all of Watch Dog‘s drinking mini-games. This involves you completing 30 increasingly harder challenges by out drinking your opponent. There has been an outcry to Ubisoft to patch or fix this particular trophy hunt due to how difficult it is.
Flower – Nature
This handy dandy little trophy will be awarded after you make 10,000 flowers bloom. Now it is unlikely that you will get it on your first play through so repeating levels will be necessary. Replaying levels four or six should speed up the process because they have the most flowers to grow.
Trials Fusion – The Bike is Your Hula Hoop
This tricky trophy will be unlocked once you earn 20,000 points in one jump. The advice for this loopy trophy is that you use the “Trick Master Map” level. Once you start, try to build up your multipliers early. On a clean run you should be able to get up to level five. Then towards the end, try to get a perfect landing with a three trick combo when you’re riding the airflow from the fan upwards towards the finish.
Well, there you have it. Some of the trickiest, hardest, and seemingly impossible trophies to earn. Now these are not just specific to PS4. Any of these games that are available on other platforms have these goals set for you to master. All I can say is good luck, and don’t break any TVs or controllers in your frustrations. It’s just not worth it.
